Hi, I have been reading the forum for a while now and just got around to registering. I always wanted rockets as a kid but my parents thought they were too dangerous. As a joke, my Dad got me an Estes launch set for my 41st birthday. 2 months later I have built 4 kits and I love it. I let my daughter pick the paint scheme for this one.

It flew great on A engines, going up to B next flight.

Post up some more girl rockets here!!

Welcome aboard. That's cool that he finally got you the launch kit!

Busy this weekend? WOOSH Rocketry of southeastern Wisconsin is hosting it's annual regional sport launch at Richard Bong State Recreation Area in Kenosha. Come on up! Onsite vendor, food, drinks and a great prize raffle.

After my son and I built our first HPR, my 9yo daughter asked to make a rocket with me. We worked together on a 4" blue tube kit (Basic Blues) from ARR. I asked her about the paint job, and she decided on a Lava Lamp style to match the lamp she has in her bedroom. We got a great custom decal from Stickershock23.com . It's a crowd-pleaser. It eventually became my L2 cert rocket.

Here is a picture of her with the rocket at LDRS.

Now she has chosen a Fliskits ACME Spitfire to build next.

Sandwiched in between my Lil Nuke and Batray is my oldest daughter's scratch designed Flower Power rocket. She sketched it, I built it, she painted it sparkly hot pink and purple and loaded it with flower stickers.

She's since lost interest, probably embarrassed of her Dad's geekdom. Her 2 year old sister took it over and would not put it down at the last club launch until I asked her if she wanted to launch it. Just as I was stuffing the parachute, someone pointed out that one of the fins was loose, so it didn't go up. By the end of the day, one fin remained. But she would not let it go, simply pulling the nose cone off, then stuffing the shock cord and replacing the nose cone...over and over and over.

Keira (my seven year old) has her own build thread around here... Wes at Dr. Zooch Rockets asked us to do a beta build together for him of the Gumball Lofting Vehicle (GbLV) and we did the build thread as part of that...

https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?26606-Keira-s-Dr-Zooch-Rockets-Gumball-Lofting-Vehicle!

she's also got a Fatboy and is helping me some with a Dr. Zooch EFT-1 and Jupiter-C "Explorer I" for the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station museum display that we're doing for Wes...

Later! OL JR :)

My daughter loved seeing other girls with their rockets. She's only 4 so she can't help much, but she knows what all the parts are called. Here is a closer pic of her Easter Rocket (ER-1).close crop.jpg

This year at CAP model rocketry encampment, our cadet commander--a girl--finished her Estes Viking in pink Krylon. I'd post a photo, but it's about 4.5 MB.

My eldest (7) wanted to come along to one of my HPR launches, 5 days before the launch, she told me she wanted a rocket of her own.

Then the next launch, the youngest (5) wanted to come. She wanted one like my Applewhite Stealth, made out of pizza boxes. It has a 29mm MMT, but likes 24mm E28's too.
Both love the Snitch!!

Try it anyway... I've uploaded some pretty big pics and the uploader tool here seems to resize .jpg pics to whatever the size is that will fit... it won't do that for .bmp's though...

If it doesn't work, open the pic in "MS PAINT" and then resize it using the tools in there...

Later! OL JR :)

Girlie rockets are fun. It's nice to include the entire family in the sport of rocketry. I built this one (see pics) for my daughters 8th birthday after seeing that she had a great time at TORCFEST. She is quite proud to have her own 'real rocket'. Her favorite colors are red and pink, in that order. The majority of the rocket is candy apple red, the rest is pink. Mark at Stickershock did a great job, as always. The red is X-Metal Krylon candy apple red. It is applied over a silver base.

The rocket is a Wildman Drago kit. I made two changes to the Drago kit. I made my own birch plywood centering rings and I made a fiberglass anchor for the shock cord. I followed Wildman's shock cord instructions when I built my Dark Star Lite, but that left few options to replace the shockcord in the future.

My son is only 4 so when I got him a High Flier I had to build it for him, but when it came time for painting he wanted it pink. So we did.

Love this thread, there is no better way to get kids involved IMHO than letting them get expressive in the finishing process. Both my 4 year old and 11 year old love to design and fly...

The skull with the pink bow is awesome!!

I'm guessing you're not yet familiar with stickershock23.com? It's all downhill from here!
https://www.stickershock23.com/Der_Red_Max.php

Indeed, Mark is awesome. I asked him to come up with a set of Der Red Max decals for a girl with a little bit of a warped mind (she loves Hot Topic) and a love for Hello Kitty on a purple rocket. As always, he did a hell of a job.

One of the reasons that I love these threads is because it shows how girls can express themselves as girls while still reaching for goals that emphasise STEM. My oldest is already pushing that she would like a "Rocket Club" at school and the be able to work toward TARC in the future.
