I've been looking around and not finding any information that is helpful to me. Before I pull the trigger on a Raven, I want to make sure that I can program it. Anyhow, if someone can help me figure out how to make this work, I would be most appreciative.

I read something about WINE? Not sure what it is or how to use it.

Help!

I have no idea about the Mac world but when I try to run FIP using Wine (Windows emulator) under Linux (Fedora 15) it fails because it FIP uses .NET which is not well supported.

Apparently this has worked in earlier versions of Linux but in newer ones .net 2.0 seems to be broken in Wine; I eventually gave up trying to make it work. No idea what the best way to do it with the Mac -- parallels or some other emulator, perhaps.

Does anybody know if the Boot Camp Assistant will work? I don't want to partition my drive unless I know 100% that it will work.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your original question, but I ended up just buying a cheap Windows netbook. Nice and portable; easy to bring to the launch site.

I have been working on the interface for mac, right now it "works" so im doing debugging. ill keep everyone updated

Cool, I really appreciate your hard work because when it comes to computers all I can really do is surf the internet. Well, maybe a little more than that, but I really have never endeavored to understand how they work.

Yes It does, I have Windows 7 (had Vista) on my Mac using Bootcamp or Parelles. I have never had a problem using the FIP using one of those.

...I can't wait till the Mac version comes out!!

So far the problem i was having was that the altimeter wouldnt register and when you did get it to register it wouldnt program. data reading was fine tho, so i ordered another raven and i have been working on a few new files for the FIP.ill keep everyone updated

Thanks, Yoehahn. If you can get this to work for people I'll refund your latest Raven.

I use Bootcamp to run Windows XP and it runs all of my windows only programs perfectly.

definitely helps me bridge the gap into my new mac.

Well, everything is running correctly.
But everything is displayed backwards :y: stupid computers.... :eyeroll:

I can program my Raven II with both Parallels and Bootcamp. I'm using Lion OS, Parallels 7 and Windows XP. Get a Raven! Not only is the product great (and those cool mag switches), so is the service!

I'm a Mac guy, also, and have been holding off investing in Raven(s) specifically due to the lack of an interface. Not one using BootCamp, Windows, partitions, and/or third party patches, but a real honest to goodness Mac interface. Is that ever gonna be in the works?

There are a few tricks you could try in Linux (I don't have the software or a R2 but I'll be getting one in the spring after my Wildman build).

If it's .NET based, you can try MONO which is a cross-platform implementation of .NET, this may work under Linux or Mac, of course you'd need a couple volunteers to try.

Give it a try, if you need any help just shoot me a PM.

The FIP port im working on will turn the FIP.exe into the standard .app which is the application extension for all Apple products. it will be an honest to goodness apple application.

The next METRA launch 29-30th I am going to test the software and see if everything works out correctly. im doing some small scale testing this saturday in an E to D gap staged rocket (Staged by raven)

Cool, I can't wait to hear more. Let us know how your preliminary testing goes.

That will be AWESOME. Thanks.

Is this a port from the source code, or a new implementation, or just some way of running the .exe file on MacOS?

I would LOVE a Mac version of FIP, Yoehahn! Can you add motor and CD analysis ala ARTS2 at some point as well? :)

In the interim I use Parallels (www.parallels.com) and Windows 7 without a hitch.

I have been working on something "special" that i will be trying out this same weekend which is an interface compatible with the Raven, ARTS2, and Entacore AIM USB all in one app. you would select what type, and then you could program from there. details + screenshots soon.

Can you see if perfectflite might work too. All in one sounds great.

I can add it im trying to get a base program that works for Ravens for right now, then ill tackle the other stuff

It's not all in one, but PerfectFlite already has Mac versions of their interface software. And it works just like the Windoze versions, right down to the quirks.

I know, but it is buggy. I still can't get it to work.
