Never one to leave well enough alone...

I brainstormed while whittling away at the shroud of my Stinger kit how I might make this one a little different. I didn't want to go for a military feel, I wanted something civilian in nature, maybe a racing vehicle of some sort, with a hot-rod feel.

It all started so simply with an extension of the shroud made simply with thin cardstock.

Then time went on and I started to get a little funky with the extra bits I had laying about...

more to come

Go-man-go. I love it so far.Course Im a big fan of the stinger/ray anywhoo.

I been thinking of this all day. Now this is just food for thought. I know it (the whole motor)wouldl be tough to do on a micro cuz of weight and drag. However on yours maybe turn the back fins around and where you are good with detailing things, add paper tires on the fins and flame them. On the front ones add some small wheels (paper/).Maybe a scoop and headers on/ out/off the back?? So it looks like a Dragster.I been trying to find a good /right size plastic Hemi motor model to actually build a Dragster rocket myself. NO LIE! Anywhoo- again just food for thought.

Verrry interesting... Saw a small dragster kit that might work at the LHS today...

On with my build, which may or may not incorporate some of your themes.

More embellishment.

This area looks odd now, but just you wait. This buldge, whipped together at 3am with carstock will be the cockpit for the 'driver.'

These 'exhaust' pipes were a brainstorm resulting from sleep deprivation. They will make my imagined paint job more difficult.

Painting and finishing next. Hopefully soon.

I was not trying to take the wax off your shine, highjack this thread or divert attention to myself. I just have a VERY OVERACTIVE Imagination. As I said,This build was stuck in my head all day (it happens, honest) and sometimes its crazy how overwhelmed I get with the tons of ideas that enter my head.I just thought I would throw some your way.Anywhoo- Looking good and I know by seeing your other builds this will be a WINNER!!!!!!!

Scotty Dog,

Thank you for the encouragement!

Sometimes my shine needs a little wax removal! I realized after the fact my response might be taken as curt, which is was not intended to be.

I like your idea and can see how elements of it, particularly the exhaust manifolds and pipes would be a great touch to what I'm doing. However, I don't have the bits in the proper scale for a Micro. Another fullsize Stingray would be another story...oh, Jiiim!

I think a space-race ship with internal combustion engine features would be awesome! Very steampunk!

OK. Its all good. Looking forward to seeing the Stinger finished.:handshake:

Here we go with the first few painting steps...

Basecoat of Gloss white. I wish I had dulled this or used flat, but its what i had at the time.

First coat of brush painted Citron green. The brush on the gloss base coat makes for noticeable strokes which will require several coats to correct. Might make it heavy. We shall see. At least you can get an idea of the direction it's going.

I can't wait to see this one finished :) Interesting modifications and wondering what your final paint job is going to look like... Pin stripes??

Thanks, Jim! It has taken a totally different turn from what i first envisioned. Originally I was thinking the white under-body area with a checkered flag motif...but then I found something I couldn't pass up...:dark:

Here you go! The Dragon_rider10 inspired Stinger. More photos to come. I would have flown this Saturday but I forgot my MMX launch rod! :bang:

Ya,I could not make out the decals in the first pic.Ill have one "Stinger" on the way here soon.Just been deciding which ones (Micros) to pick out when I the place order to Fliskits. Im getting the "Stinger" for sure and maybe the HD???? Funny how sometimes the theme changes as the build progresses. Yours came out a "WINNER" as I expected. Bet it looks good beside your Stingray.Very nice.:headbang:

Very nicely done Dragon rider!
KEWL use of color and theme.

Thanks, Micro. I was pleased with how well the decals went with the color I chose. I hadn't even discovered the decals until after it was painted.

I got to get a better camera. My phone just isn't cutting it for this...

That looks FANTASTIC! :) Have you had the chance to fly it yet?

Also, if you DO have a Stingray, a pic of the two side by side would be way kewl :)
