I am going to let the cat out of the bag. Carmen has always liked her estes super neon. Then one day our oldest son decided to launch it. needless to say he knocked a few finlets off. So Carmen and I have started over and decided on a SUPREME NEON. It is a 6x scale of the original. I have just about all the parts. We went with blue tube do to weight. This will be launched on an CTI 54 6xl L1030 Red. I won't be posting any build photos, but I will post a finished photo when done.

This ought to be fun. Great motor choice. That is what I flew in my Fat Boy at Pickrell. Rips off the pad with a long bright red flame.

This is my scratch built Vorlon on the CTI L1030RL, Great Motor. Good luck!

Dia - 5.5"
Height - 8.5'
Pad Weight - 27lbs
Altitude - 4882'

Just in case anyone thinks I have forgotten to start my Ldrs project. I have made a little progress. I am currently at 65 % with 95% to go.

Gonna bring it to the launch this weekend, so we can all kibitz?

I probably won't let anyone see it up close until LDRS. It just isn't far enough along to be critiqued just yet. There are still some issues I am working out as I go.

John

Yes, but those have nothing to do with the ro....oh, wait, that's not what you meant, is it? :p

:y::eek::D You know that my mental state is relative to my relatives. You'd have issues as well if you played 15 years of the "What If" game with Gavin and Garret. I am going to have them include you the next time they play in Pickrell.

Chris,
Thanks, Yup it's 6".

"What if you ask your mom if...."
"What do you think your dad would do if you set off this electric match behind him?"

Are you sure you want me playing "what if..." with them? :D

More importantly, does Carmen want me playing it with them?

Awesome looking upscale. Any sneak preview pictures you want to show before LDRS. It is looking like a great project and if I ever do a tube fin rocket I will know who to go to!

Heath,
I hope to have something that I feel good to show, around the first part of August. I will private message them to you then.

John

Don't tell Carmen I posted this. She doesn't want anyone to see it pre-LDRS.
It is painted with the exception that the switch band color is off for some reason. and then its a matter of final assembly.

YeeHawww!!! That looks a helluva lot bigger than the original post pic. Did I miss something?

Pretty cool John , what kind of alt. are you expecting?? Good luck ,looking forward to seeing this and you Neb. guys and gals shortly!

The boy in the photo(my son) is a 2ft midget. :D

actually it was just the angle i shot it from originally made it look smaller.

It should go 4,000 to 5,000 feet. It is still very questionable because as Troj says "This tube fin rocket has 6x 6" airbrakes on the rear"

John

I think it's the fin can with all those six inch tubes that make it look ginormous, as compared to a normal 3fnc 6 inch rocket. How much does it weigh?

I found a boy like that in the middle of a corn field in Nebraska one day while I was out looking for a rocket. We ended up giving him back!

Bob,
You left a lasting impression on that kid. He is always telling the story of how Bob Brown found him in a cornfield. Of course back then he wasn't much more than a 2 ft midget.

Mark,
It weighs 42 pounds on the pad.

That's huge!! I wish I could see it fly, stupid job!#$%*#@! Video please, please, please. I love the Super Neons.

I am officially ready for the Supreme Neon to fly. The build is as complete as it possibly can be. I am hoping for calm winds and open skies Friday morning. Everything is in check except my nerves.

The Wife will be the Captain as she is launching this beast (I was just the Peon desinger).

Hope to see everyone there.

John

Um, kind of off subject, but here goes. Gary T, you stated that your Vorlon (a very cool looking bird by the way :D) weighed 27 pounds on the pad. Was that with the L1030? That would mean that the motorless weight would be something like 22 lbs. Is this correct?
