My apartment has done all the maintenance/repair they're going to do after the water leak from upstairs, so I could move my stuff back into position and stop camping out in one of their vacant units.
They didn't fix a couple wall paint bubble spots that are hard to see, but I think I can live with it till my lease is up in a few months.

Checked on my sugar snap peas after last night's hailstorm. Thank goodness it was only a little hail, mostly rain, and no tornado. A few were hurt but most are fine.

Also worked on an occasional column I plan to submit to the local paper: "Real Science". Provides factual and verifiable info; if I include an opinion, I say so. So far I've got "Microwave Myths", "Keeping Cool With Chemistry" "Radiation: It's EVERYWHERE! (But no worries...)", "It's Not Your Daddy's Pyrex".

Bad hail storm here last night. Came through about 8:30 last night and by 10AM today I still have piles of hail in my yard in the shaded areas.

Hope you all are ok, how big was your hail? We had just a few 3/16-1/4" babies tapping on the door and walls (and spooking my fiancée's cats at her place)

Hey Mugs, are you going to make the Parasol RC?

No, not this one. Rubber power free flight. Makes for some relaxing time down at the park!

I know there is RC equipment small enough to fly a 16" model, but I don't have any of it! I do need to update my RC gear though, so maybe some very small planes are in my future!

They make RX and servos all in one unit, about a 1/4 of a postage stamp. And those are only ones that I have seen. I am sure even smaller out there. A couple of the UMX planes that I have, 10" span A-10 and a Mig 15 even have flight stabilization included in that little package.

Thanks Beels! This is the first one I've done in over a year. There is something very relaxing about building these things, I think.

Since I saw your post I couldn't stop thinking about airplanes! I think it has been more than 2 years for me. Time to build another one. You're totally right, they're just so relaxing.

I need to replace the rubber in this one, and check and see if the trim is still good. It's probably got some new warps from sitting in the basement for too long.

Do one on food safety -- thawing on the counter ( no! ), marinating on the counter ( no! ), cooling to room temp before refrigeration ( no! ), basting late in the cycle with used marinade ( no! ), using the same plate to take food off the grill ( no! ), washing meat ( no! )

... then send me copies of Real Newspaper Articles so I can convince people who Don't Trust That Internet.

Thank you! Great ideas, I'll see what I can do with it.

https://www.wind-it-up.com -- they have been kitting and reissuing the Peck Polymers models.

The box I might get to when working-from-home stops kicking my ass.

I got the Zero (just visible near the bottom of the pile) from an eBay seller about a year before the reissue came out. It was part of a lot with an almost-complete Gipsy Moth kit, and a couple of SIG kits.

I am trying to decide whether cutting the pieces out of the print wood would be an entertaining exercise in nostalgia, or if it would be as tiresome and unrewarding as it was when I was 11 years old.

I still have my 5:1 winder, but I have been reading up on electrifying peanut scale models.

Thanks for the link, I had forgotten about them! Just placed an order for a bunch of props, hooks and bearings that I need for the Heath and a couple of other projects. Also HAD to have a Nesmith Cougar kit after seeing it in your box of gold!

WOW!! That is beautiful! Is the "paint job" all tissue?

After work I mowed the lawn, it was tall enough that I could actually lose a small rocket :(

Still working on the Jeep GC. Towbar and wiring installed. CB bolted in location, but no wires run yet.

Next up:
CB Antenna
Rocket Tracking Antenna
Electric Brake Controller
175A Anderson Plug to Towbar (for when the second battery is installed later)

Yeah, sheets of colored and checkerboard tissue. I don't remember where I got it from, I might have been Peck Polymers.
I just bought 6 packs of white tissue from Peck Polymers. Their website says they can't get any more from their supplier. They're out of several colors and limit orders to 6 packs of each color at a time.

Try Easy-Built models: https://easybuiltmodels.com/ I really like these guys. They still seem to have plenty of tissue in several different types. Some great kits too!

I went and dug out the last FF airplane I finished, a Cessna Bird Dog from a Guillow's kit. I know this will shock some of you, but I did it up with a weathered finish.:rolleyes: ( I guess I am a one-trick pony...)

It's meant to look like it was an old, beat up glider tug or something with faded paint, spray can reg number, a few quick repairs and mis-matched salvaged parts like the rudder and right aileron. A bit of dirt and a few oil stains... Kind of a flying rat rod.

Not too heavy for a Guillow's kit, nice little flyer!

Mike and Marten,
That is some beautiful work. That reminded me that I have a couple of tissue and balsa Guillows kits gathering dust. Hesitating to start cuz of my inexperience. May just have to dive in, whatever happens, happens.:D

Never been impressed with the wood included in Guillows kits and have often cut parts and such from my own balsa stocks.

There’s a difference between “strong enough” and “indestructable”.

Planted some tomato and jalapeño seeds for starters. I try to grow vegetables every year and sort of fail miserably every year. I also try to do something just a bit different every year but it seems the only trees/plants that seem to do well are the ones that I barely take care of? :rabbitdontknow: My parents were agriculturists and I kick myself for not paying closer attention to what they did in the garden.

I couldn't grow much of anything from seed, my tomato plants were always spindly and weak. Since I only do a few each year, I've gone to starting with plants. Far more successful!

Best -- Terry

Oh man, that's awesome. It looks like it's seen a lot, including a student pilot or two. I especially like the silver on the leading edge of the prop, now that's realistic. How did you do the panel lines?

Finally moved back home after the renovations, and all setup. Celebrated with some tri-tip on the grill with some mesquite smoke going (they don’t look like much here, but a perfect medium-rare when sliced) and cooking the sides in my new kitchen. So very good to be home.

Love me some tri-tip on the grill.
