My kids saw Estes Saturn V kit somewhere on the internet, and got excited about building one.
Alas, I could not find it in stock with the usual vendors.

If you have either Estes Saturn V #2157 (latest), or #2001 (late 90s), or the original Century kit lying around gathering dust, please PM me with a price.

I will pay for shipping.

Thanks in advance,

alex

2157....100$? Yea, kinda high, but its a sellers market and I really don't want to build it.

Agreed. I also hope Estes will release a similar detailed scale model of the SLS like only Estes can, before NASA flies theirs. Hard to nail down the color scheme as it has changed several times already. Orange tank, white tank, Saturn roll pattern, orange gray color swoops, black and white roll pattern.... just have to buy several of them to replicate all of the artistic concepts. Maybe we can start a poll or petition or something to garner some interest and influence...

Estes releasing a SLS model before NASA flies the real one is more likely than NASA actually flying the SLS.

Well, are you talking about an unmanned test flight or a manned mission... They flew Orion already on EFT-1.

I got one. Got it at an estate sale but never opened it. Ping me of you are still interested

If none of these offers pan out for you, PM me. In my recent search for one I found a couple places that still had them.

I only have 3 sealed kits put away.....Shipping would be expensive. The box is big.

Shipping via USPS parcel is $15 - 20...if you find a shipping box to fit it in. Hope that helps.

Quick update for the benefit of anyone else who is interested in Estes Saturn V kits:
1). First of all, thank you to everyone who offered to part with their private inventory, and/or offered leads on where to kit might still be in stock.
2). I have found one such vendor, and ordered the last #2157 kit they had in stock.
3). I have also reached out to Estes, and got a super-quick response confirming that Saturn V kit will definitely be re-released in 2019!

For those who do not want to wait for 2019, you may want to grab one off one of the TRF members who spoke up in this thread, or keep an eye on eBay.

Thanks again,
a

HI Alex,
I just broke down and handed $120 to someone for an untouched 2001 version a few days ago.
It looks okay with a bit of yellowing but I am treating it with kid gloves and using it as a template for my 1/100th scale MLP build.
Once started though, I will reinforce it with plywood and add electronics. I think I will eventually go with an E motor and larger recovery system due to the extra weight it's going to loft.

I have a brand-new Estes 2001 (still shrink-wrapped) that I've had for 25 years and never had time to build it. I have finally decided to sell it. These are rare kits, can't find any of them for sale, to gauge a selling price.
(Near Greensboro, NC)

Just in time for Halloween we’ve raised a near two year old thread from the dead! 🧟‍♂️

All kidding aside, what effect did the #1969 reissue of the Estes SV and the soon to be issued Skylab/Apollo version have on the resale/collector market?

I prefer the #2001, I built 4 back in the day. Still got one in a box. These went for hundreds on ebay just a few years ago. I seen one built sell fot over 500 bux

What’s the difference between a 2001 and a 2157? I just bought a complete but open box 2001. I don’t know the year. Maybe the yellow sticker is a hint. I plan to build and fly it.

Not to hijack this thread, but anyone and everyone releasing an SLS kit is more likely than NASA flying again, but we'll see.... NASA keeps crowing that they are going to the moon and this time, to stay, but the sad truth is that the purse is held by Congress, who shifts like the wind, and can't agree if the sky is blue. Given the gargantuan cost over-runs, they are likely to have the budget cut and suddenly no going to the moon.

Unless China lands there first.

But sadly also is that NASA is starting to become irrelevant given how many private companies now want a piece of the space action. But again, we'll see. If SpaceX gets Starship to work (and I have no doubt of that, although it might take 2 more years), heavy lift capability is a given and Orion may go to the moon that way.
