I just want to make a quick update regarding AIRFest 26 held annually at the Nafziger Rocket Pasture near Argonia, KS ...

The dates for AIRFest on the schedule are September 4 thru 7, 2020. Right now, there is no change to that date.

As of April 1, 2020, there is no decision to cancel or postpone AIRFest 26. I will be posting an update to the AIRFest-specific web-pages by May 1, 2020 however we will not be accepting pre-registrations unless TRA launch restrictions and community, county, and state Stay Home orders have been lifted. Our web-site is https://www.kloudbusters.org

We will post updates here and on the KLOUDBusters Facebook page as important decision points are reached. Stay tuned.

Thank you all for your understanding. Please stay safe and healthy - we have a lot of rockets to fly!

Personally (and this is Lance's opinion) ...

I expect we will wait this out until the latest possible date for a "go/no-go" decision. Since we just hosted LDRS our infrastructure is in tip-top condition and very little maintenance will be required. Some of the "extras" (t-shirts, burger blast, etc.) can be delayed to a point, but the launch itself is the most important and needed thing for everyone's psyche.

If it were me, I would make a refundable hotel reservation at one of the hotels in Anthony or Harper (I have a reservation in Princeton, IL for MMWP). It might cost a few extra bucks, but a) not the whole bill if you don't come, or b) you wind-up without a room. I would especially encourage the vendors to "be ready".

AIRFest is a full 5 months away. As the current events evolve and improve I am hopeful. I'm working on rockets. ;)

Ummmm . . . . If you think it’s going to make me hide what makes you think I’ll allow it to fly? Just sayin’!

Er, um, uh....Hi, Bob! How's it going?

And how many buckets does that power??? :p

The correct answer to that is none. However, it could be done. Might be a fun sim to play with. I doubt it'd go over 5,000 feet.

Airfest Update
Currently the plan is that AirFest 26 will indeed occur Sept 4-7, 2020. We have talked to the local health authorities and they know what we do and have no issues with us holding the launch. Registration will be up and running the first week of July. See you at the Rocket Pasture.

I hope AF26 happens since HighFrontier has been postponed until 2021. I need a rocket launch fix. I do plan on coming up for the July fun fly though.

I will need to read up on this. I think you guys' club is the closest hi-altitude site in my range. Was hoping to make my way out there sometime this year anyway, might be a good opportunity for me to do that. :p

😐 Just saw the news for BALLS wondering about AirFest ? What a world we live in today just 6 short months ago the future was so bright now it looks like somebody put a dirty bulb in the socket.
Nothing has changed regarding AirFest. Registration should open this week. We continue to monitor national, state, and local health guidelines.
With that said, everyone in attendance will be required to do their part. Social distancing will be enforced. Bring a couple of masks and a pen or two to the event. I don't really have a polite, easy way of saying this so here goes. If you clump up and disregard the health and safety of those around you, you will be asked one time to maintain social distancing. If that doesn't work, you will be asked to leave. (Don't put me in this position, I hate it but I'll do it.) Virtually every launch this year has been cancelled. As a club, we could easily cancel Airfest and the club will survive.
I have a request of anyone who is thinking of coming, if you don't feel well or are running a temperature before you leave, please don't come! If you have serious health issues, please reconsider your attendance. There will be other launches in the future for you to attend. This hobby is fun but it's not to die for!

Just registered also! Third year in a row. Hopefully work will pick up and I can earn a little petty cash for playing once I’m there. Otherwise it’ll be ramen noodles every night until then.

Registration for AIRFest 26 to be held at the Rocket Pasture just outside of Argonia, KS is now open. You can find the AIRFest page here: https://kloudbusters.org/airfest/Default.aspx
After registering, it would be awesome if you would volunteer for shift or two of range duty to help us out.
As we get closer to the actual launch, we will be posting the required COVID-19 guidelines for the launch but you can expect to social distance at all times while on the pasture and probably wear a mask going through the RSO procedure. We will be taking our guidance from the CDC, state and county health officials. We will need everyone's cooperation in order to successfully and safely hold this launch.

Wait. You're coming?!

Lance? Is it too late to cancel my registration....? ;)

Those attending, be sure to sign up for range duty - it's a great way to meet people! The best job, for meeting new folks, is pad manager.

Doesn’t Adrian have a custom fitted Hi-vis vest for pad manager duties?

Hey Kevin, Sharon was disappointed last year, no rubber duckies?

I thought that was more of a "Danger, keep children and small animals away!" identification?

Hey Kevin, Sharon was disappointed last year, no rubber duckies?

Tell Sharon that I'm sorry, but all my rubber duckies are now reserved for a little girl who was born a few weeks back.
