Hello Everyone,

With much of the US on lock down, I thought this would be a perfect time to start a builders contest.

Okay, Here are the rules:

1. Event will be judged by NAR Sport Scale Giant Scale rules.

2. The model must be based one of the missiles listed in the books 12 Soviet missiles of the Cold War or 14 U.S. Army Missiles Of The Cold War

3. You may enter your model up to 3 times during the flying year 2020 and your best score will be counted at the end of the season (TBD). You may change to a different model at any time, but only enter the contest 3 times.

4. The models must be started no earlier that 04/01/2020.

5. Models need not be present to win, but must provide photos with a yard stick included in the overall photo to represent size. To add a kink in this rule a dated newspaper must be included with one of the photos to verify the the model was built this year. :)

6. For flying points, a video file must be presented.

I'm just getting started with this, so give me your thoughts.

Regards,

Keith

General suggestion, based on how previous build contests have gone on this forum: before dropping a whole bunch of extremely specific rules, with less than one day until the contest would theoretically begin, have some discussion to get a feel for whether folks are even interested, and if so what sort of things folks actually want to do.

Most contests proposed here tend to fizzle out due to lack of participation. I can only think of one in the last five years that was really successful (@Scotty Dog 's summer build contest from a few years ago), and the rules were pretty loose and flexible on that one.

Well you had my interest until I read the requirements for giant scale. 40ish inches tall, doable. 4ish inches in diameter, not for me. I am flying low and mid power rockets right now. Haven't flown out of the "F" black powder range yet.

Good luck with that . . . This is the 21st Century !

How about a photo with the model in front of your monitor, with a webpage showing the current date ?

Thanks for your input.

I'll table the motion until May 1st. You're right in getting better input from everyone.

Thanks,

Keith

What's a monitor?

It's a big green lizard . . .

I know, just kidding. Have become very accustomed to pics (from smartphones) always having accurate time and GPS coordinates attached, it really is a nice side benefit.
