The Thud was a Wild Weasel bird in Vietnam.

Talk about an insane mission. Fly over enemy territory, specifically TRYING to get the enemy SAM sites to target you, so you can fire a missile that tracks the targeting radar back to the SAM site.

Anyway, cool glider (they All are, of course). Great background music!

When are you going to make an A10?

I love the a10 but it just doesn't lend itself to what I do, and how I do it.

Very cool! Nice long flight too!

With what motor was that flight in the video?

Also how did you make the panel lines on the wings/fuselage? They are perfect!

24mm asritech e6 glider motor, panel lines are done with a sharpie and clear drawing triangles using a 3view for inspiration. I used a piece of spare body tube cut in half and quarter as a guide for the fuselage panel lines. Once I'm done I will often add a few lines just to fill in so it doesn't look too plain or so I don't have big empty areas that look funny.

I have released this now as a kit...
The F-105 Thunderchief RC Rocket glider kit is based on the cold war era mach 2 nuclear bomber that was utilized in Vietnam for bombing and SAM supression. It was the largest single seat single engine jet aircraft of the time. It features a mid mounted 9mm depron wing with spar installed, 2.6″ white tubing for the body pre-slotted for the wing and tail, rear of body tube pre-cut to simulate afterburner/speed brake petals, and the depron tail surfaces have the spars pre-installed. Rail buttons holes are are pre-punched and comes with a white plastic nose cone. Specs: 34″ length, 26.5″ wingspan, 11.5 oz rtf, for 24mm E-6 single use or reloadable motors.

I flew mine yesterday before work I had an awesome first flight on it. Finished it last week. I can’t wait to fly it again! Thanks Frank for such a nice kit!!

Cool that’s good to know for the future. I really love this RG and if biff it in I will get another one but I would like to do it in the Thunderbird scheme 😃

I decided I had to have an F-105 and a Vulcan kit from Frank. The F-105 arrived yesterday and the Vulcan is still in transit. Great looking models.

Close to retiring (end of Jan) and will have more time to do both RC aircraft and rocketry.

Excellent, looking forward to the finished models!
