Adjustable nose weight system

Could someone point me to a thread with a decent description of an adjustable nose weight system with pics that are active? Or post a picture? I'm having trouble find anything with active pictures. Thanks!

That's one commercial solution.

I do it myself by pinning all-thread in the nosecone and adding a variable amount of lead disks.

On my L3 rocket my sim said that I needed a fair amount of ballast, so I put a 3/4" bolt in the NC bulkplate and added fender washers as necessary to get the CG right. Turns out that I didn't need it at all... I ended up removing the bolt and plugging the hole. Your mileage may vary... this was a 25# rocket, so that system might not work for you.

This is exactly why I didn't go with a solution that included a permanently installed mounting point for the sole purpose of adding nose weight. If your goal is to minimize the total overall weight of the rocket then obviously you'll want the additional nose wight as far forward as possible. This makes a piece of all thread in the tip of the nosecone a very attractive solution however that is weight you will always carry regardless of whether it is needed or not. I basically installed a DIY version of the LOC RNWS that was posted earlier in this thread. If I don't need any additional nose weight I simply remove everything from inside the nosecone. I can post pics later tonight of my setup if you are interested.

Had a chance to take some pics. This is in a 4" diameter rocket. The nosecone is glued in place on the payload tube.

Here it is all assembled.

The bulkhead with harness attachment point.

The removable 38mm tube is still inside the N/C. The centering ring that I installed in the N/C fits snugly around the OD of the 38mm tube. The CR rests against the backside of the shoulder inside the N/C and is held in place with epoxy.

The 38mm nose weight tube assembly removed. There is a 3/4" dia hole near the top end. I can reach into the tube with a finger and remove it using the 3/4" hole as a pull point.

The 38mm tube has two full couplers glued inside. They are both 5" long. The overall length of the assembly is something like 12.5". The last coupler is not glued in place. When fully installed it extends forward just far enough to touch the inside surface of the N/C. I can add an epoxy slug with BBs to the removable coupler. I didn't need to add any additional nose weight beyond the 2.5 oz that the tube assembly weighs. If I install a 5 or 6 grain motor in this rocket I'd need to make another coupler piece with some weight added.
