Quest 35mm body tube, 11 or 13". I went with the longer tube for added stability, although it would not be to scale.

Also bt-20 to 35mm centering rings:

Engine tube and clip also available from Quest or pull from your parts stash.
And clay nose weight, according to your final build weight.

I ordered all the parts. $18.50, not bad. But I got stickershock when the postage came to $13.00.

I ordered up all the parts from Quest to build one of these. I know it comes with instructions, but I'd like to look at them now & get prepped. Quest doesn't have it on their website, only current models. I tried finding them online but came up empty. Anyone know a location for them?

Greg, PM me, I can e-mail you a scan of the instructions.

I have my Quest X-15 all assembled and sanded and ready for paint. I've decided to used water-based primer and paint from Createx. I was wondering which motor would be the best to use so I found a.rkt file for it on RocketReviews. I increased the body tube length from 11" to 13". I went through each components and was amazed to see that some of the fins and the motor tube were set as G10 for the material. I saved it as an .ork. Here it is if people want to use it.

I'm ready to put the decals on my Quest X-15. My last Quest build was the Courier & it came with stick on decals. The ones that came with the X-15 look like water-slide decals. Are they?

Yes. Soak them in water for about 45 sec. to a minute. Check if they will EASILY slide off the backing. Do not use too much force or they might break apart. If not then soak some more. Also a good idea to wet the surface of the area you will be applying the decal to. After placement blot/wick dry with a paper towel removing any air bubbles as you do so.

See Chris' blog at my link above, Parts 12 and 13 for tips and placement.

I just finished the SNG X-15 build. he also has a grande build kit and a delta wing X-15.
Came with everything needed. Was a fun build and came out nice.

I finished applying the decals and shot 2 coats of clear coat (Pledge Revive It Floor Gloss) with an airbrush. Here's how it turned out. Note that I shot a few coats of Createx 4411 Pearlized Plum on top of flat black before I clear coated it before applying the decals.X-15a.jpg X-15b.jpg X-15c.jpg X-15d.jpg X-15e.jpg
