Yeah all those darn manufacturers that don't label boxes :rolleyes:View attachment 394487
Wow nice rocket in the middle :) painting each and every box took some time, but totally worth it, I probably messed up 10 boxes though from the metal pattern getting so soaked in paint and dripping, ruined a couple shirts, other than that they turned out great.

He's still up to his old shenanagans? I thought ol' JI had reformed a little (at least with rocket kits) and stopped doing that nonsense. Maybe not?

I don’t know that he’s up to anything. I made a lame joke about a sticker saying “Model Airplane Parts”, in reference to a very old incident. I have no knowledge whatsoever of current issues with orders from US Rockets. I doubt Buddy has ordered from there.

I wouldn't do business with JI ever again. And I tell anyone I ever talk with about rockets to never deal with him. Total scumbag.

But he invented high power rocketry. How are you supposed to get into this hobby without paying homage to the man? /s

It's interesting when these OLD circumstances come up again years later. At this point, JI's the Pete Rose of model rocketry...undeniable influence, but inexcusable infractions.

Has he paid his dues? Is it time to knock if off with the "Model Airplane Parts" jokes and let him mingle with the new crew here? I don't know, but if he still has the passion through the excommunication...maybe?

Character matters. "It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it." — Benjamin Franklin.

Jerry has a lot of knowledge that I envy, and from time to time on Facebook I see him post something I agree with. I stood up for him online years ago, urging second, third, and fourth chances. Each time he proved me wrong. The saying that leopards never change their spots comes to mind.
Forgiveness for the Model Airplane Parts legal mess that could easily have hurt many people isn’t for me to give. That was before my time. My reference to it was a cheap attempt at an inside joke, but I didn’t intend it to be hurtful.
We shouldn’t humiliate or harass him; that’s shabby behavior on our part. I actually have had several of his kits. They’re not terrible. It’s unusual but nice to see real balsa nosecones.

I think, at this point, "model airplane parts" is as much a tongue in cheek joke as "jumping the shark". It refers more to the action than the persons involved.

:)
Oh I know of the incident of which you speak so your comment was pretty freaking hilarious by the way. :D

Kind of late to this thread: Yep, I have several US Rockets kits, bought from other venders. Some are real modelers kits, almost scratch builders kits and that is why I bought them. As for as the incident(s), he has paid the price and forgiveness is more than appropriate. For me, I suffered no personnel monetary loss. However, caution is still appropriate. He seems to be doing pretty good on Flee-bay...:)

Sometimes it is hard not to joke. You can't make this crap up!

Viam inveniam aut faciam
I think I have a second career in my future. I can become a highly paid consultant for the Fortune 500, introducing them to the miracle of "serving your customers." This unique and novel concept will be fodder for a business/leadership book deal (Amazon best seller in its category), a lucrative stint with a Speaker's Bureau, and of course, the obligatory podcast.

Now I understand why I scan and bag my own groceries, from companies that work their employees for 39 hours a week while paying no benefits and raking in massive profits.

All I asked for was a freaking packing slip. Now I'm seriously considering leaving this hobby and wondering why I ever rejoined it.

MODERATOR: Is there a way to unsubscribe for a thread that you started yourself?
HEY!!!!! You can't leave. I haven't enjoyed a thread like this one EVER. Your point is valid and I have experienced the same frustration not just in rocketry but in other industries too. You are right about companies needing to "learn" customer service. And I LOVE your avatar!! I need to fly that one... been a Rat Fink fan forever.

Sometimes I disappear from TRF for months, because life. I do like catching up and perusing through old threads, because rockets. This one made me chuckle at the disfunction I see on here from time to time. Hopefully the OP still likes rocketry. I don’t have a club nearby so it’s possible to enjoy this hobby alone but probably wayyyy more fun with folks who share your passion. That being said, I have a super easy solution to his original problem. Estes needs to make some RTF high powered rockets. Parts are never lost if you don’t have to build them! You could even hire someone to push the launch button!

Ever single kit i have ordered and some that have been sent over the years from US rockets have been marked as what's in the box . And have been great . I know this will upset some . He has done his time . There is a few companies that I'm still waiting on after 4 years . And i paid before hand .

I've ordered from a lot of different manufacturers. Binder, SBR, Rocketarium, and LOC are pretty good at adding something that tells you what kit is in the box. If you order a Goblin from LOC, they put bat and goblin decals on the box lol. I ordered two Madcow kits and I don't recall them coming with any sort of packing slip or picture in the box. It really isn't hard for manufacturers to at the very least, include a bloody shipping label in the box so you know what it is. I've never ordered from US Rockets but after seeing him spam people's threads on Facebook saying to buy his stuff when it's not relevant (sounds like someone else on there too) steered me from him (plus all his rockets look identical). I've only ever ordered one Binder kit, a Jackhammer, but since it disintegrated or something (no idea what happened to it), I'm definitely getting another one of his kits.
