Anybody here ever built the rocket shown in the patent? (Not the later version with the long external motor clip... the original patent rocket design)

One thing that confuses me a bit.... on the original design in which the motor is, during powered flight, encased at it's nozzle by the body tube.

Would it fly or just sit on the pad and smoke due to Krushnic Effect?
 
The Krushnic effect had not been invented yet! :)

If you look closer, that lower section of body tube is not minimum diameter. Those rails that hold the engine in place also allow some venting for air ingestion and mixing with the rocket exhaust, an "air inflow ring." Kind of like a little Augie, but the diameter is just barely larger than the engine.
