Do any of you have any tips or tricks to keep the top of BSI type CA bottles from self gluing? I wipe mine down after every use but the next time I go use it I have to DESTROY the top to get it off.1581178516279~2.jpeg

Not sure if it helps your problem specifically, but I keep mine in the freezer. This keeps moisture away from them (moisture is what cures CA). I've had some tubes in there for years that are still good.

Thanks all for the input. I am going to try the refrigerator and be more diligent about making sure they are upright.

For the thin CA I throw away the blue cap and always keep a 2" length of Teflon tubing inserted into the end of the nozzle. The difference in shelf life seems to be insignificant.

I've never had a CA cap get seriously stuck on. I wonder what I might be doing differently. I do keep the bottle upright, and frequently hack off the CA buildup on the tip with my knife, but that's about it.

I have a box of pipette extension tips that I slip over the bottle's tip and then throw away after each use. Doing so still gets some buildup on the bottle tip, but I scrape it off just like @neil_w says. Also, I wait a few minutes before putting the cap on, so there's practically no wet glue left to grab the cap. Even so, I do seem to get the cap glued on at least once for each bottle. I buy my CA from Rocketry Works, and I always order a spare tip for each bottle just in case. It's a 75 cent investment that has proven worthwhile several times.

I store mine in the drug. I put open and unopened bottles in a coffee can. TVM from Apogee confirms this is common method. He then comes back and says to build more rockets so it doesn't go bad. Always trying sell you something

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say you meant fridge and not drug? Storing CA with narcotics may make them difficult to consume. (Disclaimer: Sarcasm; I do not advocate consumption of drugs)

And Tim does make a point; if you build rockets frequently enough, your CA won't have time to go bad. And who doesn't want more rockets? :D

I keep my CA in a small (think college dorm type) fridge in the garage along with batteries and the Gorilla urethane glue, and put the bottles in a very small tupperware container to keep them from falling over. Lots of people have little laser-cut or 3d printed boxes for that too. Even an open bottle will last for a year or two and I don't really have clogging problems anymore. But I really need to defrost the darn fridge.

Lol sorry was typing on phone. Autocorrect isn't correct

I used to do that, but now I just buy the smaller bottles so it gets used up faster.

+1 on going with small bottles.
My fridge is in the kitchen, on the main floor. I build in either the basement, or in my office, so I would have to run up/down the stairs to fetch CA each time. That would be a PITA.

Buying small 1/2oz bottles exhausts the CA before the nozzles clogs up.
1 oz bottles require more aggressive nozzle maintenance (shaving cured CA off the nozzle surface, repeatedly). I just finished by 1 oz super-thin CA bottle, and it looked almost as bad as the one in OP's picture.
Anything bigger than that, and you risk having CA outlive the bottle's lifespan.

Pics of half-full 0.5 oz and 1.0oz (fished out of trash can) bottles are below.

Buy 'Starbond'. Best CA on the market, best prices. The EM-150 ( I think) medium, might be most useful for rocketry. I buy the thin, medium, and thick. I buy 16oz bottles and keep them in the freezer. It lasts until I use it all. Over a couple of years per bottle for the ones I use least. Starbond includes application bottles and neat little nozzles for them.

You are using the wrong type of tips. I get the aftermarket ones, they are long and skinny. The glue runs back down them and I seal it with a "T" pin.

Order placed.

Thanks for the tip.

In deference to Chris_H, I have been using CA from Satellite City (caglue.com) for over forty years. Good stuff. Check it out. Replaceable caps, applicators, etc. The adhesive has been very consistent over the years

I still call it “Hot Stuff”, too.

Think i have an original and unbuilt Satellite GLH kit out in the shop.

Bob Smith is the best CA I've used. I keep it in the fridge until ready to use.

I put petroleum jelly on the threads of the bottle and around the base of the cap.

In addition to wiping up any drips, I give the bottle a gentle squeeze before putting the cap on. Blowing air through the tip clears out any CA sitting in the tip of the nozzle. I've had 2 oz bottles last all the way to the end by doing this.
