Bug Report Copy - OpenRocket not opening

I'm posting this here since the send bug report feature is just as broken as everything else. After trying to update Java JRE/JDK/SE (and also reverting to older versions) OpenRocket will no longer work.
I tried downloading 8u241, both JRE and JDK, Java SE 11.0.6 (LTS), and, what I assume initially broke OpenRocket, I downloaded Java SE 13.0.2.

Downloading versions 11 and 8 required creating an Oracle account.

I'm not able to post the full error due to the word count limit, and I can't send the bug report due to the fact that the sending button is as broken as the rest of the program.

I've always had this problem. Double clicking on the rocket file doesn't work. I can start OpenRocket then use File>Open to open the rocket file.

OpenRocket does not register itself to the OS as the owner of .ork and/or .rkt files. That is why you can't double-click on a file to open it.

However, if you're on Windows, and you use the packaged installer I linked to above, you can do this. Right click on an ORK file and select Open With... and select the OR executable file, and check "Always use this program to open this type of file". Voila!

For some reason I have not been able to get this to work on the Mac. Will go back and try some more sometime.

Nope, another 'feature' of Win 10. Worked in Win 7. Most of the time there is no option to 'open with' or 'always use this program' Only works for overall Java program.

Works for me just fine on Win10. Did you use the packaged installer?

Hmm, in that case I have no answer for you, sorry.

Same here with Windows 10 - no problem associating files to the executable and launching them that way.

Open rocket sucks.

Don't waste your time with this app. The little donate money button is insulting. Maybe mine didn't download properly, but it's useless junk.

So what you've done with your post is display your inability to use a piece of software that has a large and loyal following in the hobby, and worse, criticize the app for your own failings. I use it on both Mac and Windows OS with no issues, as do thousands of others. It is widely used by high school and university teams because it works cross-platform and is free, and for students, free is important.

I don't think it's the 'donate money' button that is insulting in this instance.

So did it not run at all, in which case it could be that you don't have Java installed; or just that you didn't like the way it works?
