Because not watching DOES apply as well. It's nothing more than an opinion and it's only a sport where someone else is controlling the reigns, not the spectator. If stating not watching the boob tube creates such a grievance perhaps it's time to throw out the illuminated stage. Why even ask why at all?

Whoa, that’s a lot of answer. Way to much for me to unpack. Got it, stay calm and carry on.

I’d like to apologize for my part in that little hijack. That was some halftime show, huh ? :)

I watched half-naked Shakira and J. Lo shake their booties, while sitting on the couch with my 12 yr-old son. His phone was blowing up. I can only imagine what his friends were texting.

Thought it was ok. Never have been a fan of strip clubs, which this was close to, although I admire the athleticism. Didn't even realize there was a "statement" component until it was revealed by some "news" regurgitator later. Of course I actually try to watch entertainment for the entertainment, not every imagined bit of political commentary or dog whistle. Thought the game was very good for a superbowl. Close most of the time with occasional great play.

The reactions that I saw across the net reminded me of those of Elvis Presley's "gyrating hips" when he first appeared on the scene.

But what really shocked/bothered me was when JLo spread her legs for the camera. I was fully expecting a wardrobe malfunction. I was embarrassed for the Superbowl.

I did enjoy the game though.

BTW, my wife's from Buffalo.

The half time show was needlessly vulgar. Beautiful, talented women don't need to be represented in that way. They ransomed their dignity for false, gratuitous adulation.
I don't think they define their dignity based on your standards. The camera work certainly accentuated any possible perception of vulgarity, but that hardly seems to have been what the artists themselves were going for.

To be fair, J-Lo did a lot of crotch-grabbing. Not that I cared much, as I was mostly wondering when her performance was going to get some real energy going.

Skipped yet another Stuper bowels and seen Ross the boss (ex Manowar founder) in concert! front row time

8/10 for these reasons:
- Any show that can grab my attention for 10 minutes gets a passing grade. And 12 min is just enough.
- Songs I hadn’t heard in a long time, brought back memories. Not what I buy but not bad either.
- Both are exceptional women. Doing what they do truly is amazing.
- Not an exceptional show, but still ticked all the boxes. Excellent job.

Selling their bodies for money, there is a word for that....
Inappropriate for prime time family entertainment.

I read that halftime show artists don't get paid. The NFL or broadcaster takes care of all their expenses, and the artists are rewarded independently by a boost in they own record sales.

They said on the news radio this morning that Shakira's album sales went up 1000%. J Lo's went up 500 or 600% (don't remember which).

I knew who J-Lo and Shakira were and their style of music but don't know any of their songs specifically, yet I was quite entertained by the performance - mind you I was several mugs into a double IPA growler. I'd rate it 7.5/10 for me. I was hoping for more pyrotechnics and fire.

Game itself was great football. I enjoy defensive performance more than offense so I'm still trying to come to terms with the new direction of the nfl. It's cool how certain positions are being redefined and how teams and players are adjusting their game.
