Look closely at the videos in post #10 . The large section of fins on the second stage some of the video
shows the small step like "tab" on the edge of parts of the video then it is missing in others

Hmm . . . Perhaps it was some type of "plug" or "cover" that was removed before launch ?

you can see the "tab" is in place during the launches

also I noticed the black "roll pattern" on the second stage is different
the top side is in 3 parts and the bottom side visible after launch is all black

Could be, but there were not many launches of the Zeus A iirc.

Well, if it was in place for launch and it is visible during the launch, it must have been installed just prior to the launch, since it was not in place, earlier in the video.

I have no idea what its function would be . . . Safety Interlock, Electronics Arming, etc. ???

If you are referring to the black patches on the 2nd stage then they are probably roll pattern indicators.
That way they could look on the video to see how many times the pattern changed in order to calculate
how fast the rocket was spinning

The upper pic might be part of that "plastic wrap"they have on the fins.

The second pic is starting to look like part of the launcher to me.
