I flew my new Proton for the first time last weekend and ran into an issue with the wifi sync to my iPhone. When I closed my phone with the "off button", the wifi disconnected from the Proton and wouldn't re-establish unless I power cycled the Proton. Needless to say, that made a couple of trips to the pad very frustrating! When I kept the phone on, everything worked fine. I suspect that the problem is on my phone and not the Proton, but I'm not sure. The Proton was updated to the latest firmware about a month ago.

Is this an issue that other people have had? If so, how did you deal with it? Thanks!

Did you try shutting off WiFi on your iPhone and turning it back on? I've seen iPhones not connect on rare occasion, typically after connecting to some other network... cycling the WiFi should fix it.

I did try that and it didn't work either. What was weird is that it showed up as the only wifi connection around when I first connected, then it just disappeared and many other networks were suddenly available. I'll have to do some more testing with more devices in range to see if they can see the Proton's signal.

My quantums (Android, brave browser in private mode) had similar problems, down to seeing a ton of other WiFi possibilities. I chalked it up to poor LTE signal at the launch confusing my phone. Switching to airplane mode seemed to fix it. I can't replicate the problem at home, so maybe it really was the switching issue.

For either Android or iPhone, you need to put it in Private/Incognito mode, and with an Android you have to tell it to NOT connect to the Internet.

Sounds about right. I'm no expert but, I believe most if not all cell phones can only handle 1 connection at a time. So, you can't be on the internet while connected to your wifi devices..

The actual issue with Android is that if you connect to a WiFi network and it can't get Internet connectivity (which you would not have with a Quantum/Proton, of course) then it won't route any data. You have to override that option if your "hotspot" doesn't provide Internet access. Also, you might try turning off the cellular data on your phone first. Google it... apparently this has been an issue with other "private" WiFi devices on Android for awhile.
