I am getting a Tesla

...Even though my Tesla isn't a performance model (I deliberately decided not to get a P or a P/L) it is funny how many people seem to want to race you - "hot" ICE car owners will taunt you at the light - like the guy yesterday with some kind of really loud Dodge that had "392 Hemi" on the fender. He was revving, jumping ahead, looking over at me, etc. He missed the green light and I just let him know I could smoke him at least for a short distance with my non P or L 3 year old Tesla with 25 miles left on the battery. What I remember most was the noise he was making - a lot of noise but he wasn't really moving fast just making noise for quite a while. He finally got it going and nearly caused a pile up.
...

We had a terrible early generation electric car before the Leaf. It was built on a Daihatsu body and looked like a Ford Aerostar van that someone had shrunk in the dryer. Anyway, my wife was at a stoplight and a kid in a Camaro pulled up next to her, and motioned to roll down the window. He asked what kind of car it was and a little about the electrics. Then he said, "Man, that's tight!" and roared away when the light turned green. So that reaction you've seen isn't everywhere. I also admit that when people in sports cars are being jackasses at a stoplight (revving the engine and generally making stupid amounts of noise), I'll tailgate them off the line in the Leaf if I'm grumpy. The instant acceleration is pretty damn cool.

Gee .. I have never had anyone challenge me in my i3. :)

I did have someone in a pickup challenge me at a stop light right after we got our Mustang GT in 2005. When the light turned green, he jumped ahead of me with tires squealing. I just accelerated normally and watched his truck bounce around and his tires squeal and smoke again every time he changed gears. It was an impressive display, but not very effective. I caught up with him before the next light (never having exceeded the speed limit).

I love being in the right hand lane when someone does this. It's fun to rev back and get them going... then turn right on green. :D

This is not mall crawling:

The Rivian is the truck of my dreams! I can’t think of a car/truck that I would want more than that.

OK, I looked and still can't quite tell the difference. What are the differences between the X and the Y? They're both 7 passenger SUV, right? Does one have more cargo room?

The X is *much* larger, and based on the Model S. It is much more expensive, and it has the falcon-wing doors.

The Y is based on the 3, raised a bit, with a hatch and that mysterious 3rd row. It is unclear how small you'll need to be to fit back there. Probably pretty small.

In summary: the X is large SUV-sized, the 3 is crossover-sized.
