Be careful, this looks like a 14 page report:

It's also included in a 1991 defense appropriation, with more stuff, in case you're interested. You can download the whole thing from Google books and probably from the Senate homepage.

On more modern stealth... and the F-35s' stealth isn't even as good as the F-22s':

This Iranian Commander Kept Secret That Israeli F-35 Stealth Fighters Had Violated Iran Airspace
The power of stealth demonstrated.
1 Jul 2019

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/b...5-stealth-fighters-had-violated-iran-airspace

Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) commander Brigadier General Farzad Ismaili, who had been in office since 2010, has been fired by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after he kept secret that Israeli Air Force (IAF) F-35 stealth fighters had violated Iran’s airspace, the Kuwaiti daily Al Jarida reported on Saturday.

The newspaper emphasized that it was the original media source that exposed the Israeli raids, which had taken place in March 2018. Al Jarida cited senior Iranian military who said that only following its March report did the intelligence services of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian intelligence ministry begin to investigate the case, under Khamenei’s direct orders.

According to the newspaper’s investigation, “the IAF F-35 “Adir” planes penetrated Iran’s airspace, circled high above Tehran, Karajrak, Isfahan, Shiraz and Bandar Abbas – and photographed Iran’s air defense system.”

All of our other carriers still require mods to station F-35s:

Carrier transits Strait of Hormuz for the first time since deployment

The U.S. Navy says the carrier Abraham Lincoln transited the strait on Tuesday, making its way to the Persian Gulf. The carrier left Norfolk, Virginia, in April and was diverted to the Middle East in May, but it had remained in the Arabian Sea, avoiding passage through the strait that borders Iran.

Hill AFB, UT exercise of 6 Jan 2020. Elephant walk of 52 F-35s:

Where’s the substantiation for this statement?
There is none. Besides, they serve different roles and from my understanding the F-35 was never intended to be as stealthy as the F-22. If that's true it'd be like whining about a Civic not keeping up with a Corvette on a road course... kind of pointless.

We can link all the articles we'd like, but there's no solid information either way out there. These national interest articles are no better than something you'd read on TMZ. It's funny how far off the things I'd read on NI regarding the B2 program would be from wing/squadron briefings and the work I was doing when I was in the 509th. Yet, there's a large following who act as though they've found some secret outlet for classified information...

Which is why you can bet that what I claimed is fact. Also, why else would there be any recent discussion at all about reopening the F-22 production line (far too expensive; tooling was supposedly disposed of) if that weren't true?

They weren't the source of the overflight claim. Also, on the "mysterious" anti-Iranian-backed force strikes in Iraq that have been occurring over the past year that weren't carried out by the US and were not ballistic missile attacks, what do you think my have been carrying those out? The US MQ-9 which is allowed to be flown over Iraq is not stealth and neither is the Israelis' home-grown equivalent which would not be allowed to fly over Iraq. So, what carried out those strikes?

F-35 stealth fighter sees first combat, in Israeli operation
22 May 2018

The US-made F-35 stealth fighter has seen its first ever combat action, flying in an operation for the Israeli air force.

The air force chief showed an image of jets over Beirut, Lebanon, and said the planes had "already attacked twice on two different fronts".

Israel recently carried out scores of air strikes in Syria.

'Game-changer'

Maj Gen Amikam Norkin told heads of 20 foreign air forces meeting in Israel: "We are flying the F-35 all over the Middle East and have already attacked twice on two different fronts." He did not specify the targets.

"You know that we just won the Eurovision with the song 'Toy.' Well, the F-35 is not a toy," he said.

Don't know about the S400s failing to detect, but they obviously failed to hit.

Did everyone get the significance of that number? That along with the other info I've included here gives a hint to the probable reason for the apparently successful conclusion of recent news events.

Then why phrase it as "isn't even as good" like it's some surprise that it's fallen short? :p

I just don't see the draw to getting worked up over questionable news, but to each their own...

The POINT was that if "even" the F-35 can evade detection while it doesn't even have as good stealth as the F-22, we and our allies are sitting pretty with our "2nd best" stealth plane.
