Brought back a small present from the inlaws. Let me tell you it's a lot easier to load with four people than to use a tiny tractor to unload.View attachment 401849
Looks like the Hammond that's in my parent's house. If it is, check all the tubes after moving it like that. And having to move one by hand in my youth, it's not exactly easy to move with 4 people either.

shipped off several bags of pipe tobacco I sold on the forums, got a lighted switch to hook up to a new 30 amp switching power supply for a hf transceiver for ham radio, switched speaker cable jacks on a pair of speakers that I am giving a demo to a potential buyer this weekend. Had fall # 33 tonight in the last 5 years.

Landed in Puerto Rico this morning at 6 am...took about 2 hours to confirm that we like the December weather here better than the DFW version. 88 degrees and 81 degree water temp, just about perfect.

Passenger bank of glow plugs in the wife's F250. Hopefully they last another quarter million miles.
I find it truly amazing how long today's vehicles last. Back in the mid and late 70s I'd have been pleased if my car made it to 100K. Neither first, second, nor third car did... I was afraid to drive the 1000 miles round trip to my parents in #2 (69 Cougar) or #3 (74 Corolla).

Today...my 2010 RAV4 has almost 100K and I'm not worried in the least about taking it on a 3500 mile trip to LDRS and back next year. No way would I have considered that with the Corolla way-back-when. Daughter's 2000 Corolla has 148K. Our 98 Caravan would have gone farther than the 170K it reached, but the oil pump let loose, and it would have cost more than it was worth to fix it, what with the other minor issues that cropped up.

Remember the good old days when you had to do the points every 3000 mile, had to carry spare condenser, spark plugs, extra water in case a hose let go? Thank goodness those days are in the past. Materials engineering is so much better these days, as are the safety considerations.

I am just at the point of selling my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Got the 2002 model almost brand new. Now, 17 years later, there are some niggling problems cropping up. Had to get a new radiator a couple of months ago, one wheel seal is starting to weep. Time to upgrade...

Watched this chopper and Bambi Bucket again; the rainforest 8km (5 miles) away is still burning. No rocketry here for a while. Oh well, back to prototyping.
Heh, first time I heard that expression: "Bambi Bucket". Hope it doesn't scoop up any Bambis when they refill it.

Brings back memories. My first job was a gas station attendant. Senior year in high school. Learned how to do tune-ups. Cleaning or replacing points, rotor, condenser, plugs. Checking dwell angle and ignition timing. Chassis lube every oil change, waxlube for rubber bushings. A few years ago I asked the service writer at my dealership if a chassis lube was part of the service. She gave me a funny look then said "Oh, the suspension is all sealed now, no lube needed". Doh.

My Yesterday:
Filed:
IL Out of State Liquor dealer report
WI winery operations report and excise tax payment
WI distillery operations report and excise tax payment
WI sales tax report and payment
WI income tax withholding payment
WI wage report and unemployment insurance payment
Federal winery operations report
Federal winery excise tax report and payment
Federal distillery production report
Federal distillery warehousing report
Federal distillery processing report (yes, there are 3 reports - 5 sides of 11x17 if done on paper)
Federal distillery excise tax report and payment
Federal 941 wage/withholding report (paper)
Federal 941 withholding payment
Federal 940 unemployment tax report (paper)
Federal 940 unemployment tax payment
Federal Social Security Admin wage report/W2+W3 generation

That leaves just the WI withholding reconciliation report to go - which requires the SSA W2 PDFs. Except the Department of Revenue hasn't updated the system to take 2019 PDFs yet.

I think I'm ahead of schedule for a change!

Anytime someone says Scarab, I think of this...

Am I on the wrong forum?

WOW my eyeballs nearly caged when that picture came up. Many times in the late ‘50s I watched that car race. My father raced big Healey’s so I was at most National races. Pit that against a Birdcage Maserati and you had a race!

Thanks for the revived memories.

Yesterday, I rebuilt two computers. One of them twice.

By rebuilt, I mean re-installed the OS. One Windows 10, the other one got first Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine) then Mint 19.3 (tricia).

The last time I ran MiNT was about 1993.
MiNT Is Not TOS. On an Atari ST 2.

I’m assuming this is a different Mint :).

If you have a 2007 - 2014 (?) with Advanced Fuel Management / Displacement on Demand system. 'When' you start hearing a ticking sound...Don't drive it! Fix it or have it fixed.. I got lucky (only a single collapsed lifter) and it's just under $1000 in parts. That's a lot of J350's!

Ichabod Crane: The Headless Horsepower

Completed conversion from fluorescent to LED lighting at the wife's store. Hope the energy saving is worth the investment.

Unfortunately, we buried "Old Man Min Pin" today. Scooter was 15, and had a good life. We got him shortly after we got married...it is honestly hard to remember a time before we were tripping over his 8 lb ass...always under foot that dog.
