summed up 2019 in this video. Big stuff for 2020 but ain't saying more :p

I learned 2 things in 2019
#1 sometimes testing just wastes time and just freaking fly it

#2 Going secret is the way

So 2020, do some big stuff in the shadows, then release them all at once. Got some open source PCBs and electronics for 2020, but the rest is secret

Randomly off the top of my head...
  • Finish the 4 rockets and EggTimer Proton currently on my work table.
  • Maybe find a couple of victims, err I mean L3CC's, for my L3 Project. Estimated cost to complete & fly once, around $1,600.00 :barf:
  • Build at least 3 of the OOP kits that I have worked up in OpenRocket
  • Build an Estes DOM rocket from the 70's
  • Read at least two books one book on EX motors

Well, mine are to finish the 98mm O motor build, then launch that sucker in my Performer 200. I can't think beyond that.

Don’t really care. Featherweight redesigns an entire altimeter when their components went out of production, informs customers, and released it before Perfectflite restocks one product. I think if my conveyor company ran out of stock since February and never told customers why... They would go bankrupt as Amazon/FedEx/UPS would walk out the door.

Literally I went to work sick with flu and still met engineering goals. Dad even went on short term disability for surgery and returned flying corporate jets and in hobby rocketry they can’t even communicate to customers why they can’t stock stratologger for months??? Put a freaking note on website your sick. Laughable. Any major company would go bankrupt...

All my altimeter money will go to Altus, Featherweight, Missileworks, and AIM from now on for a new 2020 goal.

How is Goal #4 going?

I have had an idea for a 38mm av-bay bouncing around in my head for about 6 years. 2020 is the year that I actually make it along with the rocket for it.

Finish up the 5.5' Polecat Mercury Redstone that's been on the bench for two years.
I'd also like to put a sizeable dent in my LPR/MPR build mountain.
Also like to get more HPR flights in this year.

1: Get my current four rockets finished and painted (Estes V2, Goblin, Der Red Max, Semroc Hawk)
2: Fly said rockets.
3: Recertify L1 TRA using a LOC Goblin.
4: Recertify L2 TRA using same LOC Goblin (preferably same day as L1)
5: Begin L3 project.

1. Fly Stage-a-saurus, my as-yet-unflown 2-stage composite motors rocket (G-F to H-H impulse). This rocket is built, so I should be able to knock this goal out pretty quickly.
2. Build and fly Spruce Goose, an F/G/H rocket with a wooden airframe. This rocket is in concept design stage.
3. Help the TARC team I mentor get to nationals this year. The last two years, we were the first alternate.

My 2020 rocketry goals:
1: Finish my Quest Astra andd fly it on the A8-3 and B5-4 motors that I have.
2: Get my Estes Crossfire ISX out of that tree and recycle it so as to not litter.
3: Get another rocket or two so I have more than one in my fleet.
Edit: And possibly find a lobster and rutabaga pizza, @mbeels

2019 was the year of rocketry electronics to practice for bigger projects. 2020 will hopefully be the year to begin flying bigger/higher.

1). Mach/Mile. The 38 mm MD rocket is built. I just need to set up the AV bay and find a place to fly it (hopefully frozen Lake Winnipesaukee in the next month or two).

2. Build and fly a large Sonotube rocket with my daughter.

3. HPR 2-stage. I’ve piddled enough with electronic two staging in the LPR/MPR range. It’s time to go big(ish) or go home.

4. Design and build a 3D-printed AV sled that will be transferable between my current 4” rockets and my 6” L3 rocket. (This will necessitate getting better at using Fusion 360.)

5. Start building my L3 rocket - 6” upscaled Velociraptor.

1) Launch a rocket. Last launch was 1981-ish.

2) Get TRA membership since that is my closest high power club.

3) Join said club.

4) Build more rockets than I buy. So far so good, minus one to the build pile.

5) Level one certification.

One of my goals is to attract more members to Tripoli. If there’s anything I can do to help your second goal, let me know!

Steve, the $10 Junior and Student membership will help. My oldest grandson is 12 and got a Tripoli Junior membership for Christmas (well, a promise of membership) and a Darkstar Mini that he gets to build along side me.

Launch for L3. Rocket is ready to go.

Launch 7.5in Upscale Deuce's Wild at Lake Winnipesaukee, Red Glare and URRF.

Launch 4 in Upscale Deuce's Wild at Amesbury and RIMRA

Continue work on the camera trigger. Get it more robust and add a video tracking gimbal PTZ.

A moratorium on new big build it projects.

Launch this big pile of 54 EX motors

Cast 75mm Ex motor and launch

Goal for 2020: Get the Sustainer and the Booster of my project built before april. And launched before the end of the year if possible.

Sustainer below

Welcome back, you will do fine, lots of great advice on here.

Build and launch my L2 cert rocket: 5.5" LOC Patriot. Enter the world of DD (have the JLCR down pat) by building and flying my Eggtimer Quantum.

1. my kid's elementary school is begging me to start a rocket club
2. fly very high at BALLS
3. develop tilt-lockout circuit for HPR multi-stage on my own (with help from Altus Metrum source code and TRF of course :) )

This is one of the rudest comments I have seen on this forum.

I do not know the owner of this business, nor their story, including if they are sick, or not. It is none of your damn business, anyway, if they have stock or not. If they are sick, maybe really sick, or someone in the family, sick, the possibilities are endless, give them the benefit of the doubt. Buy something else. There is no need for the harsh words, simply because you cannot buy your Stratologger. Your words could cause some real pain for someone who does not deserve them.

Andrew, if nothing else that you have posted on this forum, qualifies you as an asshole, you cleanly cleared that bar with this post.

I'm going to meet 3 goals this Saturday. I am testing an altimeter I built for mach safety, achieve the highest altitude I have ever launched (7900+'), and break mach(1330fps). All in a scratch built Estes Star Orbiter replica made with blue tube and G10. It is a 38mm minimum diameter flying on an Aerotech I280 sparky with my own home-built tracking system. Going to be a great flight!!

Maiden flight was successful 2 weeks ago on an Aerotech H123 to 4400'
Next step is LDRS39 with a J270 to break 10k.

1. Fly a rocket that I built
2. Drive somewhere farther to a rocket event and fly a BIGGER rocket that I built
3. Repeat until the rocket and wallet are big enough for maybe an L1 attempt, hopefully on the same drive for item 2 ;)
4. Work on the small build "pile" that I finally have after the black friday sales
5. Complete filleting/painting/finishing the rockets that I built that are in line for the "paint booth"
6. Dip my toe into electronics and DD. I have 2 perfect candidates that I just got, but it's not in the cards for a while, lets just say mortgage company malfunction (their fault).
7. Get my grand kids into the sport. They are interested and excited. I've got the parents on board but they know like I know that they are a little too young and rambunctious for anything other than pre assembled rockets and even at that, they would get destroyed long before they ever got to a flying area. But still there is hope!!!
8. Bite my tongue about the "squirrels"

I think the first five are doable :)
