I flew my Dyna-Soar Aurora Clipper for the first time at the UROC launch on Saturday. I had two good flights using single-use AT E6's. I used some nose-down control on the way up to keep the Clipper going vertical and got a fair amount of altitude. I tried to bring the Clipper back to the launch area, but couldn't do it. Either my R/C skills are wanting or the prairie winds are too variable.

looks good you just need to never turn down wind just always fly the model up wind and then do shallow s curves left and right always facing into the wind when you turn so that the wind will blow you back a little bit over the flightline but you're never turning fully down wind, otherwise you just get too far and you can't penetrate back again
 
Another of my customers sent a nice pic of his Mig 10 kit that I make, he did it in desert camo, looks pretty good in stickershock vinyl of course.

Also a pic of my Lifting body kit that I re-introduced using 9mm depron, slightly heavier but very robust. Based on the Dyna-Soar which was more a small winged boosted glider than a lifting body, but I don't want to get sued by Boeing...

I've updated my Lifting body to have a choice of 3 different body/wingtip styles, Dynasoar, X-24 or HL-10 construction and specs are identical, except the unpainted versions are about a 3/4 ounce lighter..less paint weight and less nose weight to compensate for the paint in the back end.

This is now available, the Colonial Viper, it has an Oversized wing for glide but when you paint most of it black you don't really see it and it really looks like a viper, flies great. 26.5" long, 25" wingspan, 11 oz rtf. There is a lot of tube in the kit, and a lot of tube slotting(all cut by hand), modifying the nose cone and plugging it etc so it's a bit more expensive than some of my others.

Now that I have the templates I can continue to make them, listed on my site if interested. Could the same thing be done with an X-Wing? It would end up being kind of a biplane, with non-parallel wings.
 
Im sure something could be made to work . I've only ever seen two decent flying rc models, one had vertical stabs that really impacted the look, the other was a profile. The issue with a rocket glider is the cg shift, on a straight wing like an x-wing, you are less tolerant of cg shift forward and run out of pitch control in glide, you could add a canard, if you don't do a profile you need vertical stabs for lateral stability, i havent done one because i can't convince myself i could build one that flew well and didn't look stupid and didnt require heavy clear surfaces...even if i did, i dont think i could kit at a reasonable price.

Frank I just ordered one of your kits. Please whatever you do don't make it registered. I ordered the Aurora Clipper. It's safe to leave it at my front door as it is off the street and I won't have to case it down in this backward California town. ;) I didn't order motors because I questioned using the motors you have on that darn Hobby Labs SR-71 I found in my stash. I plan to fly this at Lucerne Dry Lake bed for the Roctober event on the 12-13 of October.

I've brought back three older kits, done in an updated way, and simpler to put together.

The Quest Dragonfly III is based on the sleek Jonny Quest TV Series Transport Aircraft. It comes with white Estes tubing and plastic nose cone, pre-cut wing and tail surfaces, spar installed and elevons hinged, pre-cut bottom intake scoop, and pre installed rail buttons. Wingspan: 25″ Length: 35.5″ Weight RTF: 11.25 oz.

The AQM-37 Jayhawk is based on the mach 3+ target drone. It comes with white Estes tubing and plastic nose cone slotted for the canards, pre-cut 9mm depron wing and tail surfaces, elevons hinged, wing and tail edges beveled, spar slot pre-cut, body tube pre-slotted for the wing, and rail buttons pre-installed. Assembly takes about an hour and a half. Nice stable boost and gentle glide. Wingspan: 20″ Length: 37″ Weight RTF: 11.75-12 oz.

The Pegasus XL is based on the lasest version of the air launched satellite launcher. It comes with white BMS 2.6" tubing, plastic nose cone, depron wing and tail surfaces with spars and surfaces pre-hinged, rail buttons installed and tube slots pre-cut. Length 38", wingspan 23", weight 11 oz RTF.



Those plus the Klingon Battlecruiser and Colonial Viper are now available as well.

Just completed instructions and a prototype for an X-15-3 Delta configuration. I used to do a kit called the hypersonic which used 2" tubing and interceptor nose cones and the basic planform of this proposed X-15 modification, but i can't get those any more. Now that I had updated my Jayhawk kit for 9mm depron and got ahold of the lightweight cones, I decided I could bring back this model but in a more scale-ish way using 2.6" tubing, a foam carved cockpit, and 9mm parts. I also saw Steve Neill's posting about his re-issue of his rocket kit which motivated me. It will weight slightly less than the original kit as well. For flight reasons I can't pull the strakes all the way forward because the CG requirements would make it too heavy for my tastes... Here's the prototype it would look good in either white ablative scheme or black...Here is the instruction link if anyone wants to see how it goes together. All edges are pre-beveled, so no sanding, except for the cockpit, all tube slots are pre-done, hinges done and wing pre-slotted for the spar. https://dynasoarrocketry.com/?page_id=4438

I am just curious, do you have some kind of deal with apogee to sell the Aurora clipper on their store. Or do they just buy it off your site

I re-worked my Draken kit to modify the wing and move it back slightly to reduce the nose weight required, now it's just under 10 oz rtf, my lightest model. I also did a slightly different color scheme, still looks pretty retro-sci-fi...IMG_20200124_090950371.jpg
 
You must have perfect trim. It's way too touchy at those boost speeds to do any corrections. Like the old hobbylab kit on an e15 it's too fast for most people. It doesn't get any higher than the e6 anyway. It was more of a torture test.

That SR-71 flight on a F-24 looks pretty good. How did it handle? I remember you saying that the SR-71 kit on an E-15 was pretty fast, perhaps too fast for most flyers.
 
The Raptor R/C rocket glider kit is modeled after the United States World beating 5th generation stealth air superiority fighter. It features 6mm depron wing and tail surfaces with spars pre-installed and elevons hinged, plastic nose cone, angle cut 2.6" white body tube with rail button holes pre-punched. Assembly is extremely simple and the flight performance is superb. Wingspan 20", length 31", weight rtf 9.5 oz painted.
