Years ago, we asked our kids' pediatrician if we should be concerned about the the "news" reports of high estrogen in soy products. She said that the estrogen is plant based and the studies are mixed as to the effect on humans. In moderation, she was OK with our kids eating soy based food. You can read more on the Harvard School of Public Health website: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/soy/

I don't know anything about the Impossible Burger. But if I wanted to know real information about it, I'd go to the original literature. Science or Nature or The New England Journal of Medicine or wherever the scientists/doctors published their work. Because what the media says often has little to do with the actual scientists' results and conclusions. Scientists look for objective truth, are usually conservative in their conclusions, and speculation is labeled as such. Reporters want a story that people will read, and it's often rife with speculation. Because that's what generates mouse clicks or finger touches.

Id just chalk it up to another (improbable) reason to eat the real whopper....
just demand that they cook it on a broiler that's never been touched by plants......

Yuk. Don't understand why people who are so against meat keep trying to make plants and yeast and stuff taste like meat. If you want something meaty, eat meat. If you want something planty, eat plants.

Also, I'm against false labeling. This comes up a lot now that "Almond Milk" is a thing. It should be Almond juice. Or Almond squeezings. But unless it comes out of a mammary gland, it ain't milk and shouldn't be called that. Almond milk at one time referred to cow's milk with a bit of almond extract added for flavoring.

Oh, and that "SOL" website is serious nutjobbery. My eyes felt soiled just looking at one screen's worth. But the idea that those fake burgers are some sort of intentional population control thing is insane. First, the government would like us to have more babies, not less (cheaper labor and more favorable economics for social security). Second, we all know that the fluoride in the water reacts with cell phone radiation and slows down the libido as part of the new world order. And, any time you touch a penny you are automatically fingerprinted and DNA sampled.

I did the taste test thing Burger King has where you get one impossible and one original. The impossible burger was impossible to finish. Very bad tasting. Humans are designed to eat meat, not meat imitation made out of plants.

Try some scientific data . . .

Sure thing. Agreed, soy isn't great for you, generally speaking. Personally I can't eat it at all, or else I get violently ill from it particularly the next day. Soybean oil is fine, but anything with soy protein makes me sick. It's the idea that it's some attempt by powers that be to slow birth rates that is the freaky nutbag hypothesis in the original article.

I tried one and hated it. Even my dog just sniffed it and walked away

It is called a HAM burger not a PLANT burger

Buwhahahahahahahaha. My grandfather was in the cattle industry. He was doing organic farming back in 90’s before it was mainstream. He had a beef it’s what’s for dinner sticker. That’s funny the dog sniffed it and walked away!!!!

Erm when I worked at a McDonald’s this spring before engineer job... I was grill boy. I hate to shock you but everything except fried products touched the darn grill. It was multiple settings plop the meats smash the settings and push the green button. Cooked from both sides. Timer beep and done. So if it’s anything like McDonald’s expect the fake plant sh*t burger to get grilled from frozen patty with the other meat patty on same grill.

And since I worked a mcdonalds all I order is quarter pounders or tenders because those were raw non frozen meats.

I’ll never eat a Burger King again or any plant burger fake crap place that exists that’s disgusting.

Eat veggies burgers or don't, that is up to you. I'm confused at why people who support individual freedoms and capitalism even care what someone eats or what a company will market to make money. If you don't choose to eat a veggie burger and therefore don't buy one, how does it affect you? Is it that offensive that they exist that you avoid the restaurant at all costs?

My curiosity about all these plant based alternatives is how "green" are they for the environment? They have to require chemical processes (creating waste streams) to extract the proteins and stuff that are used to make the "burger" how much power does it require and how bad are the byproducts. While I am not an treehugger I am an outdoorsman and hunter so I like things that are neutral to the environment (and I dont consider wind/solar power to be neutral as they ruin large areas of natural beauty and heavily impact animals around them).
On top of the production impact what are the long term effects on the human body.

If I want a non-meat burger I make my own black bean burgers. Quite tasty. They don't taste like a hamburger because I don't add 100 ingredients to make it taste like meat. It tastes like a bunch of veggies that have been cooked. I would bet all the additives in the Impossible Burger make it fairly unhealthy (my opinion), so I am staying away.

I just flat out stay away from fast food joints altogether. I enjoy my own cooking and for the most part know what's going into it.

If people want to eat the veggie burger that’s fine with me. What offends me is the amount of chemicals in these so called organic veggie burgers and knowing how fast food restaraunts operate under time schedules having prior experience at the grill at one. For example due to time constraints the grills were only steam cleaned once at noon generally after the mad rush hour of out to lunch customers greased up the grill. You had sixteen normal patties in a heater tray times two trays after that your plopping as many as 48 patties down every ninety seconds and it feels like you can’t keep up. You had a policy to scrape grease off grill with scrapper after every run but trust me when it gets stupid busy boss gets yelling your slow and you’ll slack off on the scraping to keep speed up or your out the door. Just knowing veggie burger Chems are touching normal patties is well disgusting bro.

I don’t care about the political or spectulation bullsh*t. I just don’t want to eat something contacting something else that has high estrogen content. I know how fast food joints are ran and they aren’t exactly spotless on the other side. It’s a cramped rat maze and you bonk your head and drop stuff on the floor and you sweep it up. The lobbies are cleaner. You go as fast as you can for the crappy wage to make numbers. You change gloves often and wash hands that’s about it.

It’s not like oh this grill is for quarters this one is for sausage. Hell no it all gets plopped in same grill. Loooool don’t even kid yourself.
If somebody had a full organic non chem loaded veggie burger I may try it but it won’t be my favorite.
