A relative of my wife's was a healthy mid-40's woman yesterday morning. Then a brain aneurysm struck midday and she was airlifted to this side of the mountains around midnight. The hospital (one of the best in the nation) determined that surgery wasn't going to help, so they are keeping her alive while organ recipients are lined up.

You are not guaranteed another day. I know too many people who put off what they really wanted to do, then got caught by the Grim Reaper before they could.

Also, please sign up for organ donation--you won't need your spare parts when you go, but someone else does.

If you want to use this as justification to your spouse to buy an O motor, feel free to blame me.

We lost my cousin at 7am MT this morning after a 14 month battle with glioblastoma cancer, Michael is either 49 or 50 so I understand the loss and your statement.

Couldn’t agree more with all of you. We’re only here for a little while so make each day count and treat yourself and others with kindness and respect always! Thoughts and prayers with you who have lost loved ones.

Agreed.

BUT ALSO be sure to have a conversation so that ALL of your loved ones KNOW your wishes in regard to organ donation. More than once I have sat with a family that had no idea and their lack of awareness meant that even though there was a donor card, viable, lifesaving organs were not donated, BE SURE that your family knows so they don't have guess.

I had a life long friend and an older brother drop dead from aneurysms within months of each other. Made me reevaluate my priorities.

Lost one of our sons to complications from an accident. Do to other issues he wasn't able to be an organ donor. Given the situation, I know he would have wished otherwise.

Sorry for your loss.

Something the living CAN do that can make a huge difference to patients---- donate blood!
