The Tripoli Motor Testing Committee tested 5 new Aerotech motors on Saturday December 7 and all passed the certification criteria.

H169WS-13 29mm DMS Super White Lightning
K455NW-17 54mm DMS 2-propellant Warp 9/White Lightning [note the difference from the I59WN, for example. The first propellant abbreviation is the propellant at the bottom, and the second is the one on top]
L1256WS 75mm reload kit for the 75/3840 hdw Super White Lightning
M2050X 75mm reload kit for the 75/5120 hdw Propellant X
O5280X 98mm DMS Propellant X H169WS ty cr.jpg K455NW ty cr.jpg L1256WS ty cr.jpg M2050X ty cr.jpg O5280X typical.JPG

Where can we find the rest of the data on these needed to make thrust curve files for simulation? The Tripoli Motor Testing announcements used to have all the nice supplemental data, but those don't seem to be being posted anymore.

I would love to try a K455NW in my Demon 98.

Any estimate on California OSFM listing?
Maybe by June ROCstock, or do I shoot for LDRS?

I flew a K375 NW in my Blackhawk 54 minimum diameter rocket, great flight to 17,848 ft. Gotta love those dual thrust motors, we lost a great one when CTI quit making the L640.
The I59 WN is one of my all time favorites. I'm sure the K455 will go on that list as soon as I can get my hands on one.

Looks like the K455 is the motor that was originally submitted as an L462. I was looking forward to a new 54mm L motor from Aerotech, but this should still be a fun motor to fly.

One "feature" of the K455NW-17 that we noticed last weekend is that, unlike all the other motors tested, there was an approximately 3 second delay between when the button was pressed and when the first flame out of the motor was seen. The initiators supplied with the motor were not obviously different from the initiators supplied with the other motors being tested, they looked like ordinary Aerotech initiators. The delay might be a function of the initiator, the motor internal geometry, or a combination of the two.

Thanks for posting this Alan, it is very helpful.

We expect to have the OSFM stamping within 30 days of the official TMT certification date so ROCstock is more than likely. I expect to be demoing some of these in March at Springfest in Jean but they will be available for purchase in January.

Great!

I had a good time at Springfest last year. I will plan on driving up again this year. These potential demos are just another reason I need to.

Thanks!

I have flown 3 of the RMS K375NW dual thrust motors for the 54/2560 case. The new K455 appears to be similar to the K375 but with 100 N.s. more. I have never noticed a delay with a K375. Obviously the DMS format may be the reason for the delay, but 3 seconds sounds long. Would love to hear from AT to understand if this is normal.

RMS vs DMS would have ZERO difference in ignition. The only difference is the casing. If a motor took a while to light then the igniter was too small, or it slipped down and started the motor lower down in the core, which is also a dangerous situation...I remember someone who was a smartass and thought they knew how to prep a motor when AeroTech specifically told EVERYONE flying the new K250 motor (At Lucerne a long time ago, in a field far far away) an AeroTech rep must install the igniter into the motor. The igniter was just barely in the nozzle, it cooked on the pad for about 20 sec before catching, a few hundred feet in the air, the casing blew up, pieces parts almost hit people.
