Minor mod to the NC tip. Made a spacer from a wrap of heavy paper soaked in epoxy.

I am wondering if there are any instructions available for assembling the SMT Designs electronics bay? I can get a pretty good idea from the pictures but a little more information would be helpful.

I wish TRF had a place to put doc files like these other than in a message. Thanks for passing the information on. If there are any questions that I can answer, just reach out. Thanks!

Like a separate forum for build instructions? Can you be more specific?

One option for Steve at least would be to upload all his instruction manuals to a media album on his profile page and then include a link to that album in his signature.

not a forum, the problem is that when docs are updated all you can do is post a new message with the new versions. Forum messages get lost too quickly in the stream of messages, so all you can do is search for things. Even a dedicated forum for instructions would suffer the same fate.

The Miss Riley instructions are a great example. I posted copies a week or two ago in the initial Miss Riley thread. Tobor was kind enough to let a person in this thread know that I had posted instructions, but they were in a different thread. One place, one set of files that can be updated in place... where people know to go to look for instructions and not wonder whether they have the latest version or not.

I have requested this addition pretty much since I joined. The device template doc I did was a prime example. I needed to be able to update "a copy" and not just post another newer copy. I haven't spent much time on that doc because it just gets lost here...

as far as I can tell, you can only upload images and videos. All the docs I produce are PDFs for size and maintenance (that is why I had been asking for the file manager add-on to Xenforum).

Seems it would be easier if the mfg. just posted on website.

I do actually... they are all on my How Tos page, but the last time I tried to link on here to the docs, I wasn't able to do that. I am also not a sponsor here, so I can't advertise the availability of documents on my products technically except on what I think of as a supporting message responding to a question. If I could afford being a sponsor, then I would have posted in the vendor forum regarding docs and products (even vendor posts are lost on the volume of messages in my view).

The only other thing I can think of would be to put a pinned post in related forum and have people add links to instructions. We did this for L3 projects. Most were word/pdf docs on google drive.

I have gone around on this already and no proper solution was offered. The problem with a pinned post is that you end up with a very long growing list of messages with links. At least the original doc could be modified, but you can't modify the original message, so if you have something to add you have to post a new message and then ask an admin to delete the old one (I am assuming that the message creator still can not delete their own posts after some time). It is a maintenance headache. A file system could be managed with folders for manufacturers, folders for categories, rocket types, etc. The folders can have folders...

I have used file structures for organizing development projects for 40+ years (had to think about how long it has been since I started in mid seventies - back then it was multiple 8" floppies as "subfolders" - real single drive sub folders didn't show up until MS DOS 2.0 at least where I was working - not sure about mini and mainframe development). I don't see the forum adding anything to improve this specific aspect unfortunately.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was recalling the old forums. I also had not considered the restrictions on vendors. Oh well...

not a problem. I am just trying to keep within limits. I am so busy that I don't even have much time for here or Facebook... :)

Started working on external fillets this weekend since real life decided to keep me from attending MWP :(
3 down and 3 to go.

Update: External fillets are complete! They are not perfect but overall, they are the best set I have done to date. :) I forgot to take a pic but promise to remedy that soon.
Also, since I could not get my hands on any blue dye for the Rocketpoxy, I will be painting the airframe. I haven't decided on which shade of white to use though I am leaning towards "Pearl".

Looking Good Tobor
Managed to get a little done on mine- all Im lacking now is rigging recovery and altimeter, and a few coats of clear.
Oh yeah- and fly it .... :p
Anyone have any first flight motor suggestions yet ?? Thinking 3 grain I-161

Sweet! My Miss Rilely won't fly before next spring. I'm thinking maiden flight will be on an AT H170M. Sims to 1.8K ft but that will change once I have final weight.
Oh nice, those do look good! And I think Pearl would look really sharp.
Gracias.

please make it happen sooner than later.........

So I finally made a little time and got around to building my av bay last night-
I must say , Im very impressed with thought and quality workmanship Steve puts into his product @ SMT designs .
To be honest , it has me rethinking any future av bay build without considering his product.
Thanks Buddy and Steve , getting closer to that first flight.

Thank you also! I will be looking forward to hearing about your flight of Miss Riley.

Well I bought this kit for no reason except it is like awesome and extremely cool (thanks Buddy).

Do I have time to build it? No.

Are there a dozen other higher priority builds on my rocket docket? Yes.

Will it languish for months/years? Uh... Not if I can help it...

Couple of "top shelf" kits... Hmm... Does that mean first up?

Finally! I got my act together Sunday morning and prepped the airframe for spraying primer. Then I dragged it all to church. After service and holiday functions, I set up a table in the boiler room where it is nice and warm with just enough humidity to keep dust under control. Laid down 2 coats of primer.

Only issue is that I was so excited about getting this painted, I forgot to remove the masking before the primer dried. Oh well, a sharp #11 will help with that.

I finally got off my lazy and flew the Miss Riley #66 today on an i/161 3gr/w with the TTRA Tampa club - good times/ great people and a Nice flight , what more could you ask for . It for sure will handle MUCH more motor with no problem , although Im not sure I want to fly it again, if I do I will double power ;)
