Finally pulled the altimeter data from Hot Bird's first flight.
Not sure how far to trust the velocity data since the sample ports are right behind the nose, but apogee deployment went off and altitude is reasonable.

That rocket looks even better sitting on the pad. I like the extra color.

Did the main fully deploy in time? Or was it single deploy at apogee?

Stratologger deployed perfectly at apogee, Chute release let go at 400 (instead of my normal 300) and wOw did the chute work hard when the booster fell to the end of the shock cord.

Glued motor mount, assembled coupler/bulkhead, slotted the body tube

Fit and finish of the fins is fantastic.
My second 3D Rocketry kit.
Unfortunately his website has been down for the last several weeks, the company may be gone.

Do you actually glue the ring, or just sort of capture it n there when gluing the fins? Or maybe just fillet it at the end?
Glue and fillet fins, then glue and fillet the ring. The dry fit was nice and tight.
I'm thinking I should fill and paint these parts before final assembly.
Make it easier on myself.

EDIT: I realized that my explanation was kinda murky: Glue the fins with the ring in place, then fillet fins and ring.

Recreating the MPC dress up kit and the Moon-Go shnozz, makes me wonder how much time and effort was involved with the original poor guy drafting up that stuff on paper and the other poor guy machining the molds back in the circa '70 day.

The other day I was telling somebody about the old Centuri attitude charts. Their folks had to go downtown and lease some expertise and time on an Univac computer. I'm guessing that somebody came back with boxes full of fan-fold paper full of numbers and had to hand transcribe that into charts. And some of those engines were discontinued shortly afterward.....

Yup, I have to say we have it pretty darned good with the tech we have now. Sims that let us test different motors, delays, fin designs, etc. Any enthusiast has free access to this kind of stuff and can sim a rocket in an evening from scratch.

A lot of work to do it the old fashioned way!
 
Still working on the X-15 Beta kit. I added a resin tailcone part to it. Decals will be here from Sticker Shock. I'm excited to see it all done. Kits can be pre-ordered and will be shipped about 11 days from now.

Prepped rockets for the MDRA launch this weekend. Still trying to decide if it looks better Saturday or Sunday, both days are going to be cold and WINDY! PDII probably will fly on a G69, the KK on a I180, Skunk'd! with an F67 and airstarting 2x E22s, Deep Space Transport on a C11, and the two Estes rockets on B6-4s. Oh, maybe I'll bring the baby krakens as well.

Papered the fibs for a Ruskie gooney bird. Got a Prowler Pro Series II Launch set in the mail. These are getting hard to find. Found one at Pro Shop Hobbies for $63. Heck, the controller and launch pad are worth that much.
 
Went through my Avalanche today, looking for a reason it decided to pop the main at apogee. With five 3" fiberglass dual deploy rockets, you would think I could get this one to work right.
This rocket has been modified with a payload tube to make it a standard dual deploy.
Both altimeters are wired right, twenty feet of drogue shock cord and a 1 gram charge on the primary. Two 2-56 shear pins, just like all the other rockets this size... I'm just gonna fly it again and see if it was a one off event.

Built another Eggfinder and added it to the N/C, along with a separate 1s battery for the Featherweight GPS. Thinking I will fly it on a K456 Dark Matter, a little lower than the last flight, keep an eye on it with the binoculars.
 
Picked us a case for my motor hardware, and quickly realized I either need a larger case, or another small one for the mid power cases and what not.

Then made everything better with some stickers, and will store the Ellis Mountain 76/7000 on the shelf for now.

Also I picked up 2 808 key chain cameras, and a lost drone buzzer to try on the MPR's at the parks around here.

Ans what happened, or didn't happen?
It was a cleaner install of a 54/852 MM. the directions had me making a rod to install epoxy from the bottom up (11 inches) that I did from the top of the fun tube
 
I do not know, I picked the case up used.
Seeing as there was only 1 reload for it, the M1000, I don't think I will be able to use it out side of a research launch.

So when the time comes I will talk with Loki about making a motor for it, then someday make my own.

Also I am moving my rocket building to a small corner of the building where I work for the winter, I still have not setup my garage here at home for winter, maybe this spring lol.

Started working on repairing the Partizon that lawn darted last weekend. The ejection charge on the G79-7W Motor fired way too early and the parachute was ripped of.
