Hi, I've read several threads on this, but still can't get my stages to separate on RockSim...what on earth am I doing wrong...do I need to add a separation charge with plugged motors? If so how? Thanks for any advice.

I think I was able to get it to work by setting the booster motor delay, for the time that I wanted my actual Coast phase to last. But then I assume that it is simulating dragging the booster all the way until sustainer ignition

Try putting this in....it works fine. Then adjust for your own parameters.

  • Ejection delay sec. Ignition delay sec.
  • (Sustainer) None 2.00
  • (Booster) 0 0.00

Is it because it needs an ejection charge added somewhow? I don't think so, but I'm grasping at straws...

Correct. The ejection charge is assumed to fire after the motor delay. Adding a motor delay gives you an ejection charge which ignites your sustainer.

Sustainer "Ignition delay sec." is the time between booster burnout and sustainer ignition. In my example above, the sustainer fires 2.0 seconds after booster burnout. Can you post your setup?

I don't have problems doing this. When I pick the booster motor, I type in the "ejection delay", which sets the stage separation time after burnout. Then, when I pick the sustainer motor, I set the "ignition delay", which is on top of the ejection delay. I never modify the motor file itself.
