As some of you might have worked out, I am a huge fan of the Soyuz rocket. Anyway since scratch building one I have been working on a full 3D model in CAD of the Soyuz at 1/50 scale.
The model will be freely available on thingiverse in the very near future, in full detail, and a version ready to 3D print.

Some renders to tease whats to follow.

Ochen horrasho, tovareesh.

I also want to do a Soyuz some day. ;)

Is this a functional model rocket?

Currently no, it’s just a display model. This project started with my scratch built Soyuz that can be found on this forum, however the aim for this model was to provide the base parts for a 1/26 scale flyable model that I am in the early stages of designing/ construction.

Unfortunately I don’t think the Soyuz is a good candidate for a fully 3D printed flying model rocket as it’s very heavy at the wrong end when printed strong enough to fly.

Hey Wrad!

I printed your model and it looks stunning

Unfortunately, I can't find any decals for the Soyuz FG.... I have searched half of the internet and this forum.

In another topic I have seen you made some.

Can you maybe upload them for me?

Cheers

No problem here are the ones I used for my build. Please post photos of your build Im really exited to see other people printing the model. Let me know if you think anything needs improving with the design as well.

The decals are split for those that need white decal paper and those that need clear, they should be the right size for the 1/50 scale. At the time I first made them they were fairly accurate, however some logos do change on a mission basis, and I had to use a UK flag as a brit, so I created a bit of a mashup of different missions logos. The red writing was the only thing I couldn't fins the exact logos for so the font is not wright right but its close.

I am also interested in the SOYUZ, the safe rocket that is the only one currently carrying international astronauts into space in the world.
Can a 3D printer empty the contents from the inside to make it easier to use for flights?

The model could be printed mostly hollow, but you would probably need to modify the model files first to make it flyable. For weight and strength reasons it probably best to build most of the rocket using traditional rocketry build methods and use 3D printed parts for detail and shaping like I did in my other soyuz thread. I am currently also working on a 1/26 scale flyable model as well using this model for the parts which I will post a thread for once I make some more progress with it.

Super,:) quite impressive, but this model requires a lot of hard-to-find motors.
My model is smaller than 1/50 and is made of traditional materials. I just want to print out the intricate details on a printer. It can fly with smaller motors well.;)
