I am interested in building an upscale Estes ESAM-58 FG 8" 14-16 ft. Would also like to build it to take a Loki 152mm 57.5 inch case. The kit is something I would have Wild Man make for me.
This is a 8 fin configuration kit. What I would like input on is can this be built with the ability to fly in two different configurations? First configuration with the fins off set as shown in the photo, this being the original configuration. Second configuration with the fins aligned.
I came up with dual configuration idea when I was trying to figure out the best way to transport it when built. If the fins were aligned it would make it easier. What I am wondering is can I build the booster in two pieces. The aft portion assembled with the first set of fins and a coupler tube slotted and glued in to this aft section. This assembly would slide into the fwd booster section and be secured with screws. The aft section would need to have two sets of slots and pre drilled holes to be able to rotate to either the offset or aligned configuration.
Just started working on the RockSim file, FYI I am not highly skilled in RockSim but I am chipping away at it. Any guidance or input is greatly appreciated.
Here is the kit, some photos and my current RockSim file.
