Apogee Rocketober Photo Challenge

Well, the contents of the range box depend on what kind of launch I'm going to, but if I'm doing low power on my own, I have a 12V launcher built into the bottom of my range box. Nothing fancy, just some holes, a switch, continuity light, and a 12V battery pack.

That looks very complete, and well organized. Do you load your 38mm and 54 motors at the field? Or ahead of time?

Uh oh, now you started the wheels turning. How about an all in one range box, launch pad and built in battery and ignition leads with banana plugs for a 30' controller hookup? Battery is inches away from the ignitor clips, less resistance in the circuit.
I could use my old Stanley tool box. Ceramic floor tile or electrical box cover for a blast deflector, used drill chuck to hold any size rod, all bolted to the tool box top. Removeable telescoping legs for leveling/canting the rod. Everything fits inside, carry one box to your launch site.

Room to spare for Estes 2 and 3 piece 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4" rods. Plus 12v battery, controllers, accessories, yada yada....

Small top compartments can hold igniters, plugs, small electronics, etc.

(But my cardboard box is greener and cheaper).

So far I have flown the 54 only once, for my L2 cert. But to answer your question, for me at least, 54mm motors and above are too dangerous and expensive to rush assembling them at the field.

Not something to purchase, but the biggest thing on my rocketry wish list is a big field for our club so we can launch higher power rockets and motors.

And not lose them!

(PS With my luck my rocket will probably wind up in that stand of trees way off in the horizon)

This was a tough decision. But I don't have a scratch odd roc. Looking at their posts, I would say daddyisabar and Babar are the kings of odd roc scratchers.

Dude, it's the Dude! Nearly 8 ft. of mylar goodness.
And if you fill it with helium you don't even need a motor (string recovery).

Have you launched it yet? How does recovery work? Does it eject something out of the side tube there at the bottom?

Nope, haven't launched it yet. Waiting for a dead calm day. A chute ejects from the side tube, connected to a monofilament fishing line for a shock cord.

Estes Saturnian, Trident, Starship Excalibur, Protostar.
Tintin's moon rocket.
But I'm going with this one:

Centuri Laser 244.
I built one when I was 13 years old, plans were in the Centuri newsletter.
It never flew. This one was a re-do some 50 years later.
With the left over parts I built a scratcher:

Both have maidened with nice flights.
I may retire them now.

My friends and family aren't really much into the rockets..let alone TRF....
and I'm sure there are many like me....
SO, my proposition is....can my TRF "friends and friends" identify from a close-up what rocket we are displaying with our close-up????

I KNOW,,,, you are probably following the Apogee website parameters, but this one is very limiting if we have to follow the exact "language"...

Anyway....Guess What It is...

Answer: CSM wrap and LEM shroud for the Apogee Saturn V.

Assembly was a hoot! Best part, you can fly it on a G to about 4-500 ft., no certification or large field needed.
Now just need to fill, primer, mask, paint, and decal.
My favorite part.
