I'm back from Mom's. The PSR1620 had a weird print error 87% of the way in went it stopped reading from the USB error. At least the piece as is didn't fray when I put it in the tub all the way full and ran for about three minutes.
 
I'm 68 soon going on 69. Stay active, get some exercise and yoouu will be building & launching rockets for a long time.
Full wrap from Stickershock for my current build. Staying active only works for so long. Time to prepare for the inevitable:D

Wow, that is pretty wild. Aren't we supposed to hear the story of this thing at some point?

No story that I know of, it's just a Madcow Phoenix (which can be described as a hot bird). Got it in secret santa.....2 years ago? Job has kept me busy this year, and further involvement with club logistics have shifted my rocket activities away from personal building lately.

Its turn came up, and I wanted to play around with fin fairings which is where those pieces of trim came in months ago. Stuck a PVC pipe screw coupler in the nose for access to weight, and an altimeter will go there for better control of apogee deployment.

So it's just a Phoenix missile with Phoenix wings. No story, no build thread, just the Hot Bird.

Scored some red resin, so I'm printing repros of Centuri PNCs in that. The stuff is translucent, so it give an interesting effect.
 
Just sent an email to the principal of my local high school offering to mentor a rocket club if there is any interest (and not one already running). I have no idea what reception the offer will get.

I worked at a Tribal College for 19 years as an IT guy and also taught Astronomy from time to time. I retired the end of this past June. Two years ago the College was invited to participate in the the First Nations Launch Competition. So I became an advisor the the student team. We took 3rd place that year but didn't do so well last year. The FNL is sponsored by the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium which is funded by NASA to promote STEM education. WSGC also sponsors a college (non-Tribal) competition. So if there is a college in your area you might be able to help out their rocket team.

Clearcoated my Cherokee-E. Disappointed in the results. Krylon gloss white and gloss crystal clear. Looks more matte than gloss. Maybe I should have sanded with 600 grit after the white, instead of 1000 grit.

Interesting practice today
Lost 1 rocket to the sky gods (B6-4)
Flash did a magic trick for us (broke into 3 parts )
Amazon never flew...
today was one of those colder days in Texas (55o)
My friend was loading a rocket on an older stand we built for windy days.
3 recovery systems did not deploy so the hot glue fillets were tested and Worked!

I would say 15 mph wind is hard to fly in especially when trying out duration rockets
Ill try to post vids.

Good sir, your criticism is flawed, we were shooting within angle parameters, i measured that angle my self. Also for our practice we try to land rockets in winds higher than 10pmh but not above 20mph, we also check our angle, I will assure you that the rule 6 of the NAR code was followed and the rockets were shot at a degree in which the rocket was able to recover properly. I only lost my first rocket due to a bad engine, the two rockets in which did not recover properly were due part to the recovery system not deploy properly. I will take note of what you have said, but I know for a fact that the angle you see in the picture was necessary due to the wind factors, and was not in a lower degree in which the rocket was shot lower than 150 above the ground.

Please forgive me if I judged your angle incorrectly. Perhaps it was at 30deg or less. I was not there.
By the picture angle it appears to be extreme.
