Now that I am basically replacing my entire fleet and retiring my 20+ year old rockets.
I have started to save the balsa fin sheets after I cut out the fins.
I mark them as to the type of rocket and put them away.
I figure when I break a fin, I can use it as a template to make a new one.
My fleet now has 5 brand new rockets itching to fly as soon as the temps get out of the 90's

Alternative is to scan them, with a ruler in the scan field of view so electronically transmitted copies can be printed true to scale.

If you happen to find some Edmonds gliders, please post the scans. I am kicking myself for not copying fin patterns on the ones I built

R/C plane builder have been doing this for years. Should you need a new wing rib or fuselage former... (or should the kit be made OOP!!)

I also scan the balsa and decal sheets before I assemble a kit.

Then I bring the scans into Illustrator, convert to vector art, and upscale/downscale as I desire.

After nearly a year I'm still unpacking. When I find my old build pile, which is much larger than the one I've accumulated since the move, I'll scan the Edmonds.

As for:

Mine usually get cut up for useful scrap. The narrow strips along the edges, for example, can easily be parted from the rest of the outlines and make great glue applicators. Other bits and pieces make fillers, props, stops, whatever. Not that I'm saying this is a better idea than keeping them for patterns, I"m just not that organized.
