I am starting this thread to see which nose cones you want to see a file developed for printing. Which kit do you want to build that OOP. I will develop the file and post it in multiple sizes.

Post your requests and like the thread if you want it to continue.

Sorry for the above. I'd like two nose cones: one for a BT-52 and the other for aBT-58. I'm including a copy of a balsa nose cone for the BT-52: I'd like a 3d plastic copy. I'd like the BT-58 cone to be the exact dimensions of the BT-52 cone, adjusted of course for a BT-58.

would be cool to see a bt 60 or bt 80 nosecone with a hollow tip where a small whistle could be placed and vented down 2
sides of the nose cone to allow for the whistle to sound off as rocket was under power.

Sorta like a bomb whistling when dropped but whistling while going up instead of down

Airbrake: the shoulder looks normal but instead of protruding it's a hemispherical indentation. Slap it on a tubefin, now you can do bigger motors on smaller fields without having to go full spool.

I realize it’s technically not OOP since Semroc still makes one but I’d love to see a Centuri Orion cone upscaled to 2.6” and/or 4”. With the Orion there’s not only the main come but the side pods as well.

I can do that but ti might take a week or so. It has multiple segments.

Ah, maybe I misunderstood the origin post, but I'd be interested in getting the nose cones I mentioned printed: for a reasonable price of course

I did not miss it. Send me a PM with what size you want and we can talk about it.

Instead of scaling up the BT-52 nose cone for a BT-58 body tube, can you replicate the Estes Gauchito nose cone:
Nose cone Estes - - Plastic Nose Cone and Insert, Material: Polystyrene PS
  • Nose shape: Hollow Conical, Len: 1.2500 In., Dia: 1.5400 In. Wall thickness: 0.0210 In. Body insert: OD: 1.4770 In., Len: 0.5000 In.
  • CG: 1.2770 In. , Mass: 0.0973 Oz. Radius of gyration: 0.0189775 (m) , 1.89775 (cm) Moment of inertia: 9.93672e-07 (kgm^2) , 9.93672 (gcm^2) , RockSim XN: 0.8325 In. , CNa: 2

I guess off topic, but would love something along the lines of the Estes MIRV, booster section, except instead of a single 18mm to three 13mm motors (MIRV is just underpowered, at least until someone comes up with a zero delay 18 mm D), something that goes from a 24 mm to three 18 mm motors. Also needs to be tough enough to withstand the flaming gas from the zero delay 24 mm motor without melting.

I can always dream

I'm not building any more, but one thing I always wanted and was confused about why it wasn't available was an upscale version of the classic nose cone from an Estes Alpha III. It seems like this would be an obvious type that folks would want, but I never found one. I mean, EVERYONE has built/flown at least one Alpha in their time, no? Lots of folks, including me, got their start in rocketry with one. It's a pretty "normal/standard" shape but just that little bit of rounding at the tip makes it special. And as far as I know, no one makes one in say a 54mm or 75mm type size. How about doing something like that?

That should be easy enough.

I am working on a nose cone for LOC Parkfliers that is 3d printed. The hex hole is for the shock cord.

Hello Chuck,

How about a nice pointy ogive 6" diameter with an ogive length of just 9.525 inches?

Yes, I know its a short ogive, but I wasnt to build a 6" diameter SpaceShipOne, the Scaled Composites beauty by Burt Rutan and crew.

If that's too big, how about a 5.54" diameter with a length of 8.795"

If that's too big, how about a 4" diameter with a length of 6.35"

If that's too big, then forget it.

Brad

What about noseplugs to fit sliced-off LOC shorties?

I will design it tomorrow night and post an image. It may take a couple nights to print.
