The viewer reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are bad - 45% with 2,605 reviewers. It's mostly a love/hate thing. They range from "great film with a deep message" to "boring as hell." I was planning on waiting for the DVD anyway.

Wow. Not a glowing endorsement there. LOL

My wife and I were on vacation and had a rainy day so we went to see it. Neither of us enjoyed it. I was expecting something more like The Martian. Instead, it was mainly a story about the thoughts of a deeply conflicted main character sent on a special mission by a government he doesn't trust.

I really like The Martian and have watched it several times and with that being said we went to see Ad Astra last weekend. And if it hadn't been for the fact that we had discount tickets and free popcorn we would have left. I thinks it's a cross between Disney's Black Hole and Apocalypse Now. It really made no sense they didn't explain what was going on very well nor did they explain the conflicts on the moon. The killing of the entire crew on that one ship and the baboons just didn't fit. Sorry Brad but I give it only 1/2 star.
