I just scored a good deal on an initiator at a hobby shop in billings. I'm super stoked to be able finally build a mid power lawn dart . However, the 22" chute it comes with seems a bit small for the weight of this kit. Anyone have this same opinion?

No, it’s perfect. I fly several Aerotech kits and the chutes included are of proper size. You may want to get a chute made of a thicker nylon if you plan to fly it a lot. The ones in the kit are pretty thin and rip easy. Top Flight makes some good ones that are affordable.

Hey Joshua, If that is Billings, MT, I live out in Lockwood. I flew a Top Flight chute in my L1, good small packing chute. The manufacturers are usually conservative in chute selection for their kits so they land at a rational velocity. YMMV depending on the landing surface and the deployment velocity. ;)

Ok I will look into this for sure. Thank you!

Yessir you would be correct. I am here working on the southside water line replacement near the sugar plant.

The only time the included chute is too small is when landing on frozen ground in cold weather. The plastic gets brittle, and I’ve snapped off part of a fin a couple times. Now I simply don’t fly it in the winter.

Alright so I did a thing today. The initiator is together and ready for launch. Crossing my fingers for good weather this weekend!

Sadly, it's the launch lugs that came with the kit. I'll upgrade to buttons at some point during the winter when I build my rail pad

The G74 will get off the pad in a real hurry - I’d be a little concerned about rod whip on a 1/4” rod. Make sure your pad is stable. Let us know how it flies!

I will for sure, weather this upcoming weekend isnt looking very rocket friendly so crossing my fingers!!!
