over the weekend i was experimenting with making fillets using the laminating epoxy + milled fiberglass method on a 3" body tube. It turned out very nice but what I need is a cosmetic fillet and that seemed a little overkill.

Has anyone used Aeropoxy Light for cosmetic fillets? It doesn't need a thickening agent (dealing with milled fiberglass makes me nervous anyway) and it's about 1/2 as heavy as regular aeropoxy laminating resin.

Hi Chad, I have used Aeropoxy Light for fillets on model airplanes (control line stunt) for ever. It really is great stuff for fillets when bonding/strength isn't required (Though it is actually pretty strong). It sets up pretty quickly and sands very easily.

You can just go about it the way you normally would, tape off the tube and fins, etc, but make sure you have something like a piece of tubing to drag the Aeropoxy along the joint. Trying to use a finger to drag the stuff out tends to cause colorful language...

I have been using it for years and love it. It sands very easily. Taking into account that I'm not an extreme flyer, I've never had a one of these fillets fail.
