Attended a very nice launch today with perfect weather. The Magician flew like a newly released Phoenix and I was able to capture the flight with a cheap keychain camera. I also completed 2 items for Bronze level NARTREK. For the 60 second parachute flight, the Black Brant flew way over the field and right behind a housing development, missing a swamp by about 10 feet. By some miracle I found it after almost 45 minutes of searching. Using a C6-7, the entire flight lasted 109 seconds, well over the 60 seconds needed, but it came at a price of rummaging through some woods. Not a boring day at all.

(Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, what condition my Magician was in)

I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my Magician was in

Apologies to the First Edition.

Priming on a cold, wet and windy day. Rocks come in handy to keep the spray shelter from blowing away or onto the rocket parts. So far they have held.

First mock up of my L1 build: Estes Thunderhawk 266% upscale.

Just recently started flying again since 2003. Picked up right where my dad and I left off in the hobby, everything completely scratch built (outside of motors, hardware, and electronics). My dad's off mentoring FIRST robotics, the original reason I stopped flying (I was in high school).IMG_20190928_221746.jpeg

Augh! I just built a Shenzhou and I almost brought mine to this past weekend's launch. That's a fussy build, so quite a drag.

What happened to yours, it looks like it combusted (I'm also probably supposed to know what CATO means). Any tips for those of us yet to launch one?

The motor had an accident. Completely outside of the flier's control (unless he's been generating an inordinate amount of bad luck recently)

Cato/CATO refers to motor failure and stands for either Catastrophic Failure, or Catastrophe At TakeOff depending on which camp you fell like annoying today

Ewomack, when I first saw that Shenzhou, I thought that it was yours! I hope that there's not a problem with all of the Shenzhou models. Also I believe CATO stands for Catastrophe At Take Off (not Catapult Assisted Take Off, like I originally thought).
