Love to know the true story behind that one.

I am a bit surprised some company (I think this is a Volvo from the grill) bothered to put a trailer hitch on a hearse. Unless you are the Adams family, not exactly the kind of vehicle you plan on taking camping.

Ah, but if you drive your Volvo hearse into a garage and ask them to install a hitch for you, you shouldn't be the least surprised when they do.

Funny thing about Soylent Green .... I read the book that it is (very loosely) based on, called "Make Room! Make Room!" Its whole purpose, summed up in a speech near the end, was to get people to use birth control. The author used population growth statistics to show that by (whatever year the book takes place in), there would be too many people and not enough food or space. Soylent Green was not people in the book! That was made up for the movie. It was made from seaweed.

Anyway, what the author failed to take into account was that farming science and methods would improve over time. So here we are, and the world (at least the first world, as depicted in the book) doesn't look a thing like that.

And developed countries are birthing less than a sustainable rate now.
(the memelord's didn't bat an eye when the Impossible Whopper came out, what makes McD special?)

But back to laughs!

So long as Earth remains a closed system (No other convenient "M-class" planets to export our surplus population), and an estimated world population doubling time of around 61 years, we are far from being "out of the woods."

No. Just saying the author (Harry Harrison) got it wrong.

Another amusing fact. The book, written in 1966, is set in 1999. By 1973, when the movie was released, they had to bump it up to 2022.

I guess it's time for a remake set in 2080.

I was thinking a pic of a man mooning the Mona Lisa might also be cute.
The second one reminds me of a saying of a friend of mine,

"Remember, children, forest fires prevent bears."

More than likely, zoning. To preserve "property values" and "local charm", towns will stipulate what buildings look like and often deny permits based on appearance. So McD redoes their cookie cutter blueprint to stand a better chance of fitting in.

And yes, zoning (just like an HOA) - can drive you to medication in record time.
