Well wouldn't you know it, I got my EZE today and the fins are the same too small size. I emailed LOC about it and hopefully the send the right fins out.

Hey Dave - we haven't seen any emails from you. Can you please give us a call @ 920.892.0557 we'll fix you up!!!!

Recent update! The rocket has been recovered in surprisingly good shape. Motor mount was swollen a bit from the rain. I soaked in some thin CA and sanded it down so a 29 motor slides in without binding. I got the 29/24 adaptor, parachute, nomex protector, and shock cord all back. The Chute Release has some problems and is going back to Jolly Logic for repair. The battery may be trashed from being discharged for so long. Hopefully it can be repaired. I'm trying to come up with a way to add some surface area to the fins. Maybe just cut off the old set flush with the body tube and surface bond a larger set on. I wonder if LOC would supply a set in the correct size? Guess I could ask.IMG_20191202_112531.jpg

I'm sure they will supply the correct fins. You definitely got the first run of *way too small* fins there!

If it were me, I bet you could knock the current fins off. Sounds silly, but a whack or two with a hammer at a right angle to the fin should do it. Been there done that. Idea is to crack the epoxy enough to allow the fin to be removed. Do it right, and you'll only have to repaint the area beneath the "D" lettering.

I'm not sure if that would work on this one, there's PML two part foam between the motor mount and the body tube.

Dave,
Have you finished yours and flown it yet?

I've built her, but not flown it yet.

I did have the chance to fly the Park Flyer Sandhawk over the Thanksgiving holiday and it flew *fantastically* on a G64-10.

That was a nice flight. The G64's a 29 Hobby line reload, correct? I'm building an IQSY Tomahawk. I may try to use the coupler as an AV bay. I think there's room for an Eggtimer Quark and a 2c LiPo. These park flyers are a good size for smallish fields. I recently picked up a 29/40-120 case and have used it a couple of times. There's a nice selection of load for it. I like the F53-10FJ.

Yes it’s a 29/40-120 reload. Probably my favorite for that casing but there are many great reloads. The other ones I use a lot are the F52 and the G76 Mojave Green.

I built this same rocket. I have printed 2 nose cones to test with it. I plan to test printed nose cones vs the one that came with it.

A Christmas gift arrived today from Jay at LOC. He contacted me about the fins in my original kit and offered what I thought would be a set of replacement fins.
Well, what I got was a whole new kit! That's some customer service!
To complete my Merry Rocket Christmas also in the mailbox today was a replacement for my Jolly Logic Chute Release that was damaged beyond repair after having spent over a month out in a field full of weeds.
No one can say we don't have some great vendors in this hobby!
Thank you John Beans and Jay at LOC for raising the bar on customer service.

Since I got a whole new kit I used the new fins as a pattern and made a second set. I cut off the fins from the original Red Rocket, then used a cutter bit in my Dremel to cut slots ( the original fin area is filled with two part foam) back down to the motor mount tube. I aligned the new fins and tacked them in place with 5 min. epoxy. Filled the gaps and added fillets with Rocketpoxy. A little sand paper touch-up. Now, the question is should I leave the battle scarred veteran look, or touch up the paint?
