We are excited to announce the release of our Miss Riley Fiberglass Rocket Kits now for purchase on our website! The kits are 55” tall, 2.64” Diameter with a 38mm MMT and have a Aluminum Billet Machined Nozzle, just like the original ones. Our kits are a 2/3rd Scale version of the original ones featured in the movie October Sky, exactly 20 years ago! Each kit is signed by Homer Hickam and Ky Michaelson on a Certificate of Authenticity and is limited to 100 kits only that will ever be made. There is also a recovery package available for these kits that include everything you’d need to safely recover the rocket as well as a Altimeter Bay Package that is 3D printed. On our website we have detailed instructions on how to build this kit along with a downloadable Open Rocket Sim file.

Buddy,

I order one but did not order a retainer. These are just the stock retainers from Aerotech: Correct?

Hi Buddy
I noticed you say the kits will ship in a couple weeks does that mean you don’t have them in stock

I’m just waiting on nozzles here which should come within the next week along with the kits, I always like to tell people I’ll ship it within a few weeks and ship it sooner than a couple weeks and be late for anything unexpected, as I’ve never felt with this many kits before, it’s over 20 parts per kit, that’s 2,000 items so I’d rather take my time shipping them out. My planned ship date is August 1st.

Just a clarification, the electronic bays are a custom order from SMT Designs and are in the process of being manufactured at this time for the orders that have been made that included them. The 3D printing technology is not lightning fast even though I have several printers running during the day. I am off to HellFire24 for a bit over a week (travel, HellFire24, travel...), so manufacturing will start again once I get back from the launch. I will be able to give Buddy a shipping schedule at that time or contact those that purchased a bay and let them know what to expect. Thank you!

Just making it into the office from my 3 day, 24 toll, 2,100 mile trip to Pennsylvania and back. It’s time to ship out the Miss Riley Kits! The 100 aluminum nozzles have also just been delivered! So far 80/100 kits have been sold, if anyone out there is still interested in one, nows your chance to be one of the last! Thank you to everyone whom has helped me with this tremendous project since the start of the year turning a dream into a reality from Scott Case machining the nozzles, to Curtis Turner custom making all the colored fiberglass parts, to Mark Hayes making the beautiful Miss Riley decals, to Randy Milliken machining the Rail Buttons, and Homer Hickam and my father for inspiring this amazing project and coming onboard! Check the kit out here: https://the-rocketman.com/miss-riley/

Sold out! :(

Will there be another run?
I am currently working on a 1:3 scale of our space shot rocket, 3” diameter, 54mm MMT and 87” tall. There will not be another run of the Miss Riley kits, as they were limited edition. Although I may do a run of full size (4” diameter) Miss Riley kits next year of 50, if I get enough names on my list.

Thanks for the headsup Buddy.
The 3" space shot rocket sounds interesting. I could go for that one!
However, if you do a run of 4" Miss Riley, please put me on the list.
Regards, John
