That looks a bit more comfortable for the main. What is the height now? How much stability did it gain?

Shortening the added section down 4 inches helped it in a few ways,
Less case and motor the cg is at the forward end of the switch band, prior to that, it was a few inches behind.
To me anyway it helped in appearance as well, the full tube just didnt look right.
And of course I gained a TON of room for recovery, and I will worry less about the main hanging up somehow.
I started with the paint tonight- If it comes out like whats in my mind, it will look okay too :p
I will post some pics when Im done.

wij- once everything is dry - I will re weight it, but I want to say 3 - 3.5 lbs is the target weight.
I build and paint heavy

well , never one to leave things alone- I changed gears a little on the colors, I just didnt like the way it was going with the black and yellow without adding checker board- I have done that too many times -
Going to bring the yellow from the N/C down into the blue a bit to even it out and touch up my short taping on the fins .
But all in all , I like it better, plus Im having fun painting without a rattle can

So wij it came in at 3.1lbs now ( dry-no motor or case) and moved the cp /cg forward a good bit- Very happy with it now.

NICE! I like the pop of the yellow with the blue.

I have decided after watching your build that I need a proper dual deploy setup for the sport x. Just so happens that I am building another 3" kit and I designed the av bay/dd configuration to be interchangeable with the Sport x. It houses the main chute in the nc and that moved the cg forward as well. Its a 5" section of airframe and 1" for the switch-band. It uses a 5:1 plastic nosecone which is a lot longer than the Madcow nosecone but it brings the total length to just about stock.

I did the ground testing as well for this setup. Drogue: .8g bp. Main: (2) 2-56 shear pins and 1.3g bp. made for a clean and quick separation.

Hoping to launch this setup around mid september!

GREAT looking flights - Congrats
I flew mine on an A/T i161 - It was windy as heck , the up was perfect -drogue deployed at apogee but I got a little happy on the ejection charge and it pulled the battery loose on the board- that and I for got to zip tie it  anyway, it landed fine all tho it dinked up the cardboard av bay pretty good. I ordered a glass one today to replace it and we will fly again in Oct. For sure adding another grain this time too :D

I flew mine earlier this year at Red Glare on an H118 to 2,226ft. Perfectly straight boost and a nice flight! Love this rocket!IMG_2289.jpgIMG_2314.jpg
