Looking for a Fiberglass kit ?? Any ideas.

Looking for a kit with some fairly specific constraints.
Fiberglass airframe 3” dia or larger, FG fins, and 29mm FG mmt.

Centering rings can be birch, and even the NC can be plastic or FG.

Just curious what the hobbiests out there would point to... there are two children that will fly the crap out of these. I realize there’s cardboard, and i can get components. But interested to see if there are known kits.

Get a hold of Wildman Rocketry they will be able to meet your needs.

The two vendors that come to mind are Madcow and Wildman. That said, I think you're going to have some difficulty meeting your constraints. My (quick) review of their offerings didn't see anything that meets what want - 3"+ kits seem to come with 38 mm motor mounts or larger. I suspect that weight would be an issue. Sounds like you want kids to fly these, which probably means G motors.

The closest I saw was Formula 54. https://www.madcowrocketry.com/formula-54-kit/ It's a 2.25" fiberglass kit with fiberglass fins and 29mm MMT, under $100.

I got my daughter a Wildman Wild Child when she was 10 or 11, with Stickershock custom lettering that says "ELIZABETH'S WILD CHILD". It's indestructible, and will fly on anything from an E to an I. That's just my experience.

And I love my Wildman Darkstar Jr, Jayhawk, and Interceptor 98 (L2).

Curious to see what else the collective experience of the forum is.

I realize that we have 2 wildchilds. We had hundreds of flights on our darkstar before it was ate by the wheat and a lost gps signal. (The pick, was my sons rocket he bought it when he was 8, and mark at sticker shock made him an awesome Dr. Doofensmirtz wrap.) Darkstar extreme is still alive and flies on 8000ns ex motors.
You are correct, looking for something to run with hobby line motors, or low power versions of the 29mm hpr style cases(i like them better) I have two younger daughters that are dying to fly something.

If you add the mass up there should be no issues on 3fnc with a g motor. 30” of 3” thin wall is only 15oz.
I agree its heavy, but not where its not a safe configuration.

I cant wait to rip it on a 29/120 G79W... that looks like a fun motor!

I want a kit because there is a noticeable price difference over component builds. I would try to see if people here were aware of anything available.

You are correct - these can definitely be safe on a G, or even an F. Did not mean to imply otherwise!

What about adapting down from a 38 mm to a 29 mm? Either temporarily or permanently? Or flying on a 38mm G (single grain)? Then maybe a Madcow Twitch or Formula 75?

An online discussion about rockets is more interesting than fighting with SQL Server!

Wayyyyy to many options to choose from, but I highly recommend getting one with a 38mm MM and adapt down to an Aeropack. Formula 75 I think would be what your looking for, plus no paint needed.

If I were you I would get a 3" kit with a 38mm mount and an Aeropack 38-29mm adapter. you can always adapt down but its hard to fit a 38mm motor in a 29mm tube. And/or a Loki 38/120 case and reload 38mm G motors. Personal preference but I prefer the G64 over the G79

Adapting down is good advice, it’s what I would normally do. But I know me. These will be for my daughters to fly at launches on non hpr. I don’t think I have the ability to not actually fly it as an hpr. So this will make sure it Starts as theirs and stays theirs. Okay maybe an I200 just to make sure the rocket is sound.

I fugure I’ll just bite the bullet and component build. That way we can Rocket.Reload.Repeat...

G64 has always been my go to. Love that one. H180 is always a blast too.

If you permanently epoxy the adapter in place, there is no longer a temptation.

Then the temptation just shifts from being tempted to fly 38s to being tempted to drill out the adapter.
