Had a Great time at LDRS this weekend. Was wishing I had my rocket Starwolf 29 (Athena 3 from loc Precision) was ready but I'm still working on getting all my electronics for the electronics bay. Was hoping to find booth for Missile Works at LDRS this year.

update: just found everything I wanted ordering now. Maybe I'll be ready for High Frontier 16 end of this month.:)

There was a CRAZY 2 stage N to L flight toward the end of the day. Anyone have any idea what the final altitude was of that beauty?

Didnt fly a thing but had the best time at the rocket pasture ever. Kloudbusters really made it one for the record books. Thanks Kloudbusters!

So LDRS 39 is on the great Salt Lake. Any dates talked about?

It will be held on the Bonneville Salt Flats, right next to the speedway. It’s about an hour and a half west of the Great Salt Lake. It’s a surreal place to launch rockets. If you have it on your bucket list, next year would be a good time to join us.

My wife and I had an amazing time at LDRS 38 and wanted to say thanks to Kloudbusters for the awesome weekend. We love the fun family atmosphere that everyone in this community seems to exhibit and met many wonderful people!

So after driving alllll the way back to Michigan I have a few thoughts about LDRS38:

- Bob Brown is a super nice guy and really knows what he is doing when it comes to these launches. Same can be said for Lance.
- Terry S (can't remember how to spell his last name) is the funniest LCO I have ever encountered.
- Some dude named Eric makes great bevels.
- Pulled pork tastes FANTASTIC on nachos.
- Should'a put a Mitch Match in it...lol
- There are A LOT of rocket people that also play disc golf
- Charlie from Aerotech is a great guy
- LOC is awesome
- Chris' Rocket Supplies trailer is REALLY organized.
- The Mega was enormous
- I will never have enough time at these events to talk to all the interesting people I want to meet.

We got home a few hours ago, and I want to add my thanks to the Kloudbusters as well. We had a great time, and were genuinely amazed at how smoothly the entire launch went...that was A LOT of people launching A LOT of rockets (If it wasn't double Airfest it had to be close), and it ran as smoothly as any launch I've attended despite the challenges of morning weather and a moron with a hang glider. Absolutely a first class launch, and first class crew, thanks again.

I had to write a note for my kid's school as to why he was out on Friday, but was kind of at a loss how to describe LDRS. I know what I wrote doesn't completely capture the value of getting to expose my son to such an experience. I eagerly await the videos that will come, so I can forward those to his teachers.

Also, it was really nice to put so many faces with customers and TRFers. Thanks to those that stopped by to chat.

Dave, I love all your comments.

Large launches mean different things to everyone. You get to know your neighbors well and often make long term friends. I like that aspect.

I love the roasted corn. Doug and Melissa Asper and all their crew are family to us. I love this.

I was so focused all weekend I wasnt able to sit and talk with many folks. I don't love this. I'm going to try to get out to Midwest Power and Pawhuska this fall and launch some rockets. BALLS is too quick a turn for me after LDRS.

Rocket people are there best people. Thanks for coming to our little slice of heaven this year.

BTW, I'm nicer than Bob.

Got home last night boy did we have a great time. I'm so envious of the Kloudbusters site what a great place. We haven't been to an LDRS since 97 and I tell you what this one was par excellent. I volunteered for a couple hours on the registration desk Saturday afternoon and Lance was there and worked with us and he was so patient with getting folks problems worked out. Met lots of great folks and it really felt good to get away from the outside world for just a few days. The banquet Saturday night was fun and the food was great. We had rain Saturday morning but it wasn't heavy and after a few hours you couldn't hardly tell it had which was a good thing. So many flights it never got boring... Thanks For A Great Event Kloudbusters....

There was a flight late Sunday that weather-vaned to the South that looked like an inbound ICBM going to Oklahoma was it ever found ?

Thanks All

Yes it was recovered in good shape. I talked to the flyer on Monday as he was leaving. From his description it was about 2.5 miles to the SSE.

I want to give kudos to each and every volunteer who helped with the range duty. I think I can speak for every Kloudbuster in saying that they were the grease that kept the wheel turning. LCO, RSO, Pad Managers, assists, and registration are vital to every launch. Without them it couldn't have been done. If you volunteered, give yourself a pat on the the back for a JOB WELL DONE! THANK YOU!

Thoroughly enjoyed LDRS 38 and met so many fine vendors, flyers and volunteers.

KloudBusters and all the fantastic volunteers who served a shift ++ from all across our great nation deserve the "Highest Rocket Award" for the heavy lifting at LDRS. Thank You Ladies and gentlemen for making it all possible.

I'll see you next year at LDRS 39 on the Bonneville Salt .... my old racing stomping grounds :D

Till next year ... Fly High Land Safe

John

LDRS 38 was a great experience and I sincerely appreciate all those who not only made it happen, but did it in style. I took very few pictures or videos over the weekend as I just kept trying to absorb it all in real time. I did manage to get some (crappy) iphone videos of the Mega and a few still images of my own stuff and will post them all as time allows. Friday night I couldn't help myself and inserted my data on Waco and Hardline's board of flights and the picture of the totals is one of my favorites. I enjoyed my time under the AZ flag in the compound of sorts we ended up making.

Cory,

Good stuff!

Random note: DaReese'r mentioned your wife wanted to see my shirt (I know that sounds wierd). So I took a walk during the rainy period on Saturday morning. Visited with many new and old friends. When I got to your camp, you were sleeping with your feet up and I didn't see her, so I kept a walkin'! When I walked by later, you were still out cold, so I didn't dare disturb the peace. Though we ran into each other earlier in the weekend, I wasn't wearing "the shirt" at the time. Oh well...I'm sure at some point a photo of an ugly guy in a Hawaiian rocket shirt will surface; hopefully that's sufficient!
