Turbo Vortico on smaller engines?

I recently pulled my old rocket gear out of the basement closet where it had been for 20 years. In there were unopened packs of Estes A and D engines, as well as two single use Aerotechs - E30T and F25W. Assuming I can even get the ATs to ignite (which might be a big assumption, given what I've read about old white lightning motors), I don't want to put them in any rocket that relies on the ejection charge actually working, so I was thinking of picking up a fun kit that doesn't need it.

In general, I will probably be flying 24mm a lot more than 29mm though. Does the Turbo Vortico do alright on 24mm D/E engines with an adapter, or am I better off just tossing the F25 in the trash and getting the 24mm Mega Vortico instead? It looks like the Turbo is actually a fair bit lighter than the Mega but quite a bit larger in diameter, so I'm not sure how to predict its performance.

It builds quickly from a cardboard box and an F25 will give it a nice ride. It’s light so it flies with 24s too.

+1 on any type of design where ejection is not required

Never heard of Turbo Vortico but I will suggest the aerotech RMS 24/40 casing is one of the most versatile 24mm reloadable cases in the market with motors from D-F range and composite APCP. If a turbo vortico is more conventional rocket looking you can try the open rocket software and play with motors and delays.

Recommended engines are E through G, I think a 24mm F with adapter will be fine.
Since the Turbo Vortico helicopters on ascent and descent, a shorter launch rod is recommended. Refer to the instructions.

Whatever you decide, don't throw away the F25. If you find a nearby CAR club (I posted a link to the list of them in the "What Did You Do..." thread in reply to your introduction) then someone there will be happy to have it. Otherwise, I'm sure someone here will be happy to send you price of postage and a bit more for it.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with the Turbo Vortico and grab an adapter, and I'm going to give lighting that F25 my best shot. I can always get a smaller model if I find the Turbo too big to feed regularly. Those Art Applewhite designs do look interesting, too - I may need to add a couple to the fleet.
