As I was surfing Google Earth today I floated over the Richard Bong State Recreation Area just west of Kenosha Wisconsin (Lat 42.626109, Lon -88.159010) and saw that the rocketry parking area was full of cars. (Wildman's motorhome and trailer are very obvious!)

Zooming in further one sees an obvious smoke trail from a mid or high power rocket (possibly mine!). The posted image date on Google Earth is July 6, 2018 which was a Friday, but Tripoli Wisconsin held its monthly launch on Saturday the 7th of July. So on the assumption that its a date error by Google and the image actually comes from Saturday the 7th, it appears that their satellites caught an image of a rocket launch in progress.

And yes, I was there that day, and yes, I think that's my car in the second row, and yes, I did launch a high power rocket, so I'm going to make the presumptuous assumption that it was my rocket caught in space!

How dose one search from 2018? Yes post a picture if you have time

Wait - My Google Earth doesn't look anything like that - what am I doing wrong?
- Or is that just a still from your on-board camera????

Google Earth Pro for Windows has a feature that lets you view past satellite images. It's the little clock icon on the tool bar you can see in this image of a NEFAR launch from 2016:

It's not from an onboard camera. I don't know why you got a different Google Earth image. I viewed the past satellite images on my version of Google Earth (Google Earth Pro v. 7.3.2.5776 [64-bit] for Windows 10) and didn't see that image in the back file. The closest was an image from April 2017, which does also appear to show a launch set up in process, a couple of cars and a trailer and a bunch of people standing around.Bong 2017.jpg
