Thanks so much you Thirsty Barbarian. I'll check it out. Nice you put all the info here s I can refer back to it in this thread.

This is the casing I have and as I recall I got it from a user here 10 years ago.

No Haz on the "g" reloads for that case. I G64W-7, G53-7FJ or G76-7G would all be great for the argent. First will take you about 1750 feet, second about 1300-1400, last about 1800.

I just watched the Apogee reloading video and it looks pretty simple. So I'm sold on the idea and love avoiding the dreaded Haz fee. ;) Thank you for the the listing on engines.

I will weigh the body tomorrow. Not sure what she ways but it seems pretty light to me.

Umm, Ventris, Partizon, Argent, Mega Der Red Max, Leviathan, Nike Smoke. I think I have at least one of each still, maybe an Argents and Ventris in the attic still in the package. Great kits.

Don't forget the Prowler.
And these are the Pro Series II.
There was a Pro Series (I) back in the day, decades ago.
Impulse, Patriot, HoJo, Maxi Force, Jayhawk...… there may be others (V-2?)
Oh, and for PSII there is the Star Orbiter, and the builders kits, which was only available from the Estes website: Panavia and Scion. I probably missed a couple.
Laters.

I wonder what the 9714 model with Ventris fins was. The tabs are for the 2” tube, so I imagine it was just 2”” all the way up to the 2” nose cone. There aren’t really any other options with the PSII parts.

I think the Ventris fins are kind of a cool shape and would look good on a few other rockets. I think they would look good on a Big Daddy type rocket. Maybe scaled up a bit and the tab length would need to be adjusted, but that profile might look good on a short rocket.

Nyt and Thirsty: I love this discussion! Got me thinking again so rather than relying on faulty memory I pulled the instructions. The Scion, Panavia, and Sahara were basically SPEVs. Offered online only and meant to use up the left over parts from the original four PS IIs.
Scion used three of the four Leviathan fins, reverse mounted. Two of the Leviathan upper body tubes were included with a coupler. So you had to slot one body tube using an enclosed template. I remember it threw me off when I saw the plastic pack of four fins when only three were needed.
Panavia, as mentioned, used Argent fins and Partizon nose cone and body.
Sahara used Partizon fins on an Argent body, transition, and nose cone.
I guess a builders kit using Ventris parts was in the works, but never went to retail.
As I recall, they came in a plain plastic bag instead of a box, and no face card.
Only available for a few months directly from the Estes website.
As I recall the webpage said something like "when they're gone, they're gone".
Cheers.

Here are my Ventris and Argent clones. I am also cloning the Panavia and Partizon. Interchangeable tubes and other parts make it easy. I made good laser cutting fin files for all of them.

That's really cool, it's nice to see the (relative) big birds around.

Estes is ok with the repros since their OoP?

I don't know. I'm selling them as clones using Estes parts. I don't think they would care.

The original series were the ones i was referring toz.
Patriot, Impulse, Jayhawk, Maxi force
Terrier/Sandhawk, there were more I think.

Just received a couple sets of Leviathan fins from Big Red Daddy for my clones, they are well made, fast shipping, well packaged for safe arrival, and I do not think that I could have purchased the plywood for the cost of the fins, great value. If you are doing PS II clones, definitely check with Big Red Daddy for the parts. I am assuming the full kits are just as satisfactory.

They look great. Have a couple, but I don’t plan on building them for a little while.

In the first pic, the image was backwards. I reversed it and re-posted it.

I see... When importing fin shapes into OR, the fin needs to point to the left, with the root edge at the bottom. I probably mirrored the image to allow me to do that.
