maybe, it was a long time ago..

it might have also come form a label or two not begin applied quite right; having a wrinkle or crease, or corner folded over..
 
I've said it before, I'll undoubtedly say it again at some point; the only thing I dislike about my Partizon is the oddball airframe size, 2.5".

Built with good mid/high power techniques, it has made some pretty impressive flights, including my L1 cert flight.
 
One PSII based kit that I bashed (but sadly didn't get to finish mine before the move to China) was a stretched Leviathan.

My rocket's older brother is a flight capable version that still hangs at Rocket Fizz candy shop in downtown Portland, Oregon.

While I was in San Diego, my dad gave me an old built NCR Big Brute rocket that he had been given by a friend. Nice rocket, similar in size to a PSII MDRM, but lighter. I’m going to have to build an adapter for the odd-size NCR motor mount. In addition to PSII, the NCR kits would be great for Estes to bring back, but I won’t hold my breath!

Yes - Orange County, City of Orange. Used to frequent the Katella Deli in my college years. Did private music training in a studio in Palos Verdes - niiiiiice area. Orange County real estate some of the priciest in the country.

I like the PSII and the larger rockets because I'd rather like to watch nice, slow majestic launches. Plus as my eyes and hands get older, its harder to assemble smaller rockets. I'm starting to build PSII-type scratch builds from BMS and Apogee parts. Really hope Estes develops more along this line - there is a demand out there (me and others).
 
Just wanted to let you guys know that I have clone kits for the following Estes models:
Leviathan $55
Ventris $55
Argent $55
Mega Der Red Max, your choice of 29mm or 38mm motor mount. $90. Only one left and it is 38mm. Waiting for more nose cones.

I think I can make Panavia with parts that I have here. I believe I can make others given a little time. Custom laser cut plywood parts available too.

I also have plywood fins and centering rings available for:
Big Daddy
Super Big Bertha
Star Orbiter
And working on the file for the V2

Kits are complete minus adhesives, paint, and graphics. As many parts as possible are Estes like nose cones, tubes, parachutes, etc. I laser cut the wood parts. Screw on motor retainers are included, even for the 38mm.

Yeah exactly. I have a NCR Eliminator, and I changed the motor mount so it could accept 29mm.

The first one I tried in the old motor mount gave me a lot of trouble to discard...
 
@Big_Red_Daddy Awesome set of clones you are putting together. That’s a great service to the rocketry community. These kits were all a great introduction to MPR and HPR for lots of people, including me, and it’s nice you are making them available now that they are OOP. Plus, the upgrades are pretty cool.

Are you also doing the NCR Big Brute? Now that I have one of these already built from an original kit, it seems like a nice rocket. And being able to build a modern one with a non-NCR motor mount would be great.

I did clone the Big Brute with Matt Steele's help. It's very much like the SBR/Fusion Diablo but with 4 fins. I even used SBR's nose cone and body tube. I bumped up the motor size to 38mm because why not. I'm currently developing a nose cone electronics mount (which is also available for the MDRM).

I built his Leviathan and have his Mega red max on the bench. And will order the Pnvia now that I know he can make one.
Great kits and super quality builds.

Yes, thank you! I used to really like the Leviathan kit for brand new TARC teams to get their feet wet in rocketry. I missed that kit when it was discontinued.

The 28.5 mm motor tube was my only complaint about Estes North Coast. There stuff was okay... A little pricey, but all mid/high power seems that way to me. That is why so many of my rockets are scratch built.
 
I built this back a few years ago and I'm finally going to fly it at Roctober at Lucerne Dry Lake Bed. I can't even remember the name of it. It is the biggest Estes I have ever built. Anyone remember the name?

BTW when I bought it my LHS still had single use 29mm engines on there wall. No longer. In CA the hazmat is 39 bucks a motor. I'm waiting until I get to the event to get my motors for it there or order the reload kit for the Aerotech reloader I have? I have never reloaded an engine myself before.

What would you steely eyed guys recommend?

Argent.

Haz-mat fee is per carton, not per motor. Order as much as can fit in a carton to spread out the fee.

Check with ROC to be sure, but they usually have an on-site vendor that will sell you a motor.

Scroll up this thread and see the Clone Kits. The only other way to get this out of production kit (or the other OOP PSII kits) is to find someone who hoarded a few. I may have one in storage, but I will not be checking for a while. If I do, I only bring them to our club launches and never ship them. Next club launches are Sept 21 and 29.

Many Aerotech reloads for the RMS 29/40-120 casing will work such as F40W, G64W, F52T, G53FJ, G76G. Calculate the actual liftoff weight and either run a good simulation or ask someone with experience for the correct delay time. If you build heavy (epoxies and lots of paint) then use a 4 or 5 second delay for the F reloads and a 6 or 7 second delay for the G reloads. if you build light and are launching with little wind, then it will coast longer and you can use a 6 second delay for the F and an 8 second delay for the G reloads.
 
Hazmat has nothing to do with California, it's a federal DOT requirement.
 
Thanks guys but moving out is not an option. Currently while the rest of the country is running warm it's a pleasant 70 degrees where I live near the ocean. I sent over 40 years in the LA valley which was real hell. Had to because working for the film studios demanded it. Moving to Ventura away from Hollywood was good enough. Don't miss Hollywood. I just want to enjoy my hobbies and making in peace and quiet and I get that here. ;) Besides I have friends at NASA, JPL, and Space X here.
 
If you want to order motors for the Argent online and not have to build a reload or pay Hazmat, you could fly it on Aerotech single-use Econojets or Economax motors. I like flying my Argent on the F20-4 Econojet. I think it should also fly fine on an F23 or F27 Econojet, but you might want to check the built weight first to be sure. An F42 Econojet would work, but I find that motor a bit boring. The F67 Economax would make it scoot nicely. And if you are willing to pay hazmat, you can opt for a huge variety of Aerotech single-use G motors that don’t require you to build the motor. Your on-site vendor should have Econojets, Economax and Aerotech single-use motors too. Lots of choices that don’t require you to build the motor.
