Dr Zooch Juno kit.

So after launching my dr zooch Juno at the sport range at Naram and losing it in the dreaded
corn field. I am now with out one.
The good people who sponsored this years meet worked hard, but have to say the sport range left a lot to be desired. Between hard landing on the asphalt pad and the milo and corn field killers it was not a ideal launch site.


If anybody has a Zooch Juno they can part with or the directions and wraps for one I can clone please let me know.

I'm thinking this is going to be the future of Dr. Zooch kits. If you lose it or they get damaged to be unrepairable we can't get another kit again. I remember that was one of Dr. Zooch saying if you damage or lost it you could just buy another one. That's not true anymore. If and when you can find them the prices are sky-high. I was hoping eRockets was going to be a source for them but that's not going to happen either.

The best thing in the future for all of us that have and build Dr. Zooch kits is to keep the instruction, document all the size and lengths of the tubes and the weight of the balsa parts along with everything else in the kits. This is what I have started doing.

Maybe we all could share this information, but I'm not sure if this wouldn't infringe on copyright somewhere. We didn't know how good we had it till we lose it.

I have started to do the same on mine.
Unfortunately the Juno is one I didn’t do this on as I built it before DZ shut down.
I am glad erockets is producing the Sat V and Falcon but don’t think they will get to his others as even Wes’s stated that some just didn’t sell well and if their is not demand then no need to produce them.
I have most of his line and would be willing to share with others if they want any info.
Maybe Wes can weigh in on the copyright thing if he sees this.

I think i recall Wes saying the Juno was his highest flying rocket. its one of the few Zooch kits that I didn't take a shot at building.
I agree with Saluki 100% on taking the specs on the parts. Man I loved his Saturn 1b and his Lifting Body was a cool little kit too.

A lot of Dr. Zooch kits shared common parts. The main body tube for the Juno II is the same one used in the lifting body shuttle external tank. The nose cone is the same one used on all of the shuttle kits SRBs. Likewise the engine mount to for the Juno II is the same one as the lifting body shuttle SRBs and the payload tube is the same 1.0 T20 used in the Ares IX. oddly all of those crossovers had roots in the Juno II and crossed over into those other kits.

My copyright only covers the original artwork and composition of the instructions. You can scratch build whatever you want, however, BMS will not produce the custom-made parts for some kits such as the Saturn V, but often I tried to use his off-the-shelf parts if I could.

Thankfully i bought several of you part lots you sold on Ebay so I think i have the cone and maybe even the transition.
Found my directions and the original box buried in the stash closet so now its just a matter of tube lengths And weight for the nose if any.

So thanks to the info from Dr Zooch directly, here is my cloned scratch build of the Juno II.
Have added the corrugated bottom section as I did not have any yet, and I added a nozzle wrap from the Estes Thor Agena B that I gave the zooch treatment to (wrapped with Kevlar thread and superglued for stiffiness). No decal yet as I have to figure out where to get them as I don’t have a set to copy
